Lets be honest here, first and foremost, if you NJ fans have any type of city/state pride... There is no way you're willing to fall in love with a New York sports team, Nets name or not. If this were the case, you all would have never became Net fans to begin with; you all would have been New York Knick fans from day 1.
It's different with the Jets (my team) and Giants... Because yes, we may play in Jersey... But we're still called the New York Jets. We kept the STATE name, which is much more important than the team name. Why do New Yorkers root for the Knicks, Yankees/Mets, Rangers/Islanders and Jets/Giants over the Nets and Devils? Because we're New York fans... NOT Jersey fans.
I couldn't imagine Knick fans after losing the Knicks to New Jersey and becoming the New Jersey, or Trenton Knicks. That'll never happen, but we'd turn our backs on the NBA forever. Thank god for MANHATTAN!
But yeah, if you all become the Brooklyn, or even New York "____"; will you still root for a NEW YORK franchise?

There's a way to get your questions answered.

If you really just wanted to find out the answer, you could've posted that question alone. There's no need for a predetermined hypothetical answer of what you think Nets fans would think about the move (even though it's largely incorrect and doesn't consider half of the reasons why it could possibly be a dilemma for many Nets fans to support a Brooklyn and why it's very easy for others.
