from where?

If you want media confirmation you'll have to wait. But it's done.

Well if its done this early, I feel the Kings must have offered LOTS of money.

It's not only that but he is such a liability on offense it's like playing 4 on 5 on offense. The other teams D can double up on our scorers with no hesitation. Not to mention he is a terrible free throw shooter. I can't remember how many games we lost by missing free throws last year <sigh> this blows.

I agree . I have heard we had some interest in him . Though I think he is a mistake . That said I wonder how much truth to the user that said it was done really is ? Usually if a deal is done it will come out via espn , sportwriters etc. . So far nothing . Hope it just a hoax ?

It isn't like we are going to lose offense if we insert Hayes on court. Sammy wasn't really a factor offensively other than dunking, tip ins & the occasional J.

To me, this would make it easier to distribute shots to the other guys. Especially, a guy like Salmons will need his.

Yes but again Hayes is way undersized and IMO he would be a better fit if he played a smaller position for his size . I do not feel he would be much of a factor defensively playing against the majority being significantly taller at the same position .
I would feel better if its a 1 year deal but I seriously doubt that.

Sammy actually showed some good offense last year. I was impressed with his mid jump shot, I never thought he had that in his game. Sam had a much better offensive game than Hayes IMO. But the point is we aren't losing offense directly it's that having Hayes in the lineup allows the other team to play off him more so our scorers will have a harder time scoring. Daly at least kept the other teams defense in check to a certain degree.

Also I think we were at our best when Daly and DMC played together. Daly and DMC > Hayes and DMC. So yah it's a downgrade for sure. Not saying Hayes doesn't bring some intangibles to the table, this just isn't the direction I want the Kings going in. I can understand if Whiteside is ready to ball then there is no need to throw a lot of money at Daly. But Hayes???

wow i accidentally deleted my post?

i hate losing chuck and i'm really pissed because i wanted chuck back as a backup so bad  ..he was a crowd favorite and by far my favorite player..im looking at my autographed poster of him now

but y'all will be surprised by chuck...he is a great post passer, our offense ran so much smoother when he was in the game because of his great vision and passing...his post d is stellar and he can shut down the best players..hes an above average rebounder especially for his size..his offense has improved every year and he adds something new to his game every year so i expect him to come back with an even better offense this year

hopefully you don't pay too much for him though because part of what makes chuck great is that he was so underpaid

if chuck does sign with y'all then y'all will be my second favorite team and i will root for y'all just beneath the rockets for as long as he's on yalls team

lulz

Anyway, like others, I'm not the most thrilled, but he is a good defender and can apparently pass from the post, and we all know the boner Petrie gets when a big guy can pass. Overall I don't think we lose much offensively, since for every good offensive play we got from Dally, there would a couple of bonehead ones that followed.

Probably one of the few fans that would be happy with this signing as long as it's at a reasonable price. Hayes played high school ball 2 minutes from my high school, and was a big fan of his when I was in elementary school and he was at Modesto Christian. Apart from that I think he can be a great back up center for when Cousins is winded or gets into foul trouble that he often gets into. LIke others, would much rather have chandler or Gasol, but that's looking more and more less likely as we approach Friday.

I like the signing as well, he was one of my FA targets. I'd love to get Nene, Chandler, or Gasol but I knew that the odds were very low. Yes his height can be an issue but he has sequoia legs and very few guys (if any) can move him out of position. He understands positioning very well and plays to his strengths. He's also a much smarter guy than Dally and will hopefully be a good influence in the locker room. Welcome aboard Chuck!

i actually like chuck as a player, hopefully we dont overpay for him though.... the thing that i like from him is that he knows his role and works really hard.. he can be a nice mentor for Cuz, like how to use his body effectively and defensively...

How much are we looking at? A multi-year deal? A one year deal?

3-4 years $14-$18 million? MLE?

I am not sure were I read it but I remember another sports writer saying that he was already offered a contract over 3 million from Houston and he turned it down .
I also read not long ago that we wanted to offer him a 1 year bloated contract to fullfill alot of our cap sapce so we could have a ton of cap going into 2012 but Hayes wanted a multi year deal instead as thats what he was looking for .
If he is signed by us wich I hope he isnt then it will be a 3-4 year deal starting at around 4.5 - 5 million per season.

Man I hope he is not a King .

Exactly, the Kings don't need anymore mouths to feed, however, Hayes actually understands how an offense runs and how to do the little things like set an effective screen.
