RICHARD JEFFERSON
It seems per this tweet on twitter wich many sports writers are tweeting about that Richard Jefferson is likely going to be amnesty by the Spurs as they are likely going to sign C.Butler or J.Howard .Do we go after him for veteran leadership ? Do we go after him knowing we could trade him later this season for good value to a playoff team if we end up not having a shot to make the playoffs ourselves ?
@timpchisholmTim Chisholm
SA is also pursuing Caron Butler and Josh Howard, which may have factored in to their amnesty decision on Jefferson.

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
I think we should absolutely make an bid. Heck, we've still got some salary we need to add, and he's a better SF option than Garcia or Tyler Honeycutt at this point. He's a smart guy, a real class act, tons of experience on winning teams, I don't see any reason why we wouldn't put in a bid of something like $4m per year.
Heck, if the Spurs offered a straight up swap of Garcia for Jefferson, would we take it? I would. Why not pick him up for $4-5m p/yr, get closer to the salary cap, add a trade piece, and if we need to we can amnesty Garcia later on and still come out ahead in both the cap hit and the money we are actually paying out to players.

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
Jefferson would be great if we could get him for cheap. I wouldn't pay that much for him, though.

My thinking is he would be a great fit .
That said even if we truly didnt want him we could use a part of our cap to sign him then later in the season we could trade him to a playoff contender ( saying we are not ourselves ? ) for ean expiring & or draft pick . We could use signing Jefferson to our advantage either way .

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
I place a bid on him.
This would solidify our SF position. At the very least, we are bringing in a veteran guy that can hit the 3 ball and score.

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
Sigh....not another poor 3pt chucker! If we're keeping Salmons we need a proven 3pt vet shooter to sign! Peja for the vet min? Brainstorming here:
If we can keep Salmons, sign Peja along with another 2 vets, probably Earl Watson and Sammy we'd have the perfect tandem of vets and young guys.
Dally/JT/Whiteside*
Cousins/Hickson
Salmons/Donte/Peja/Honeycutt*
Thornton/Cisco
Evans/Jimmer/Watson/Isaiah*

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
If he would come to defend and not complain about lack of minutes or lack of shots. Yes Other than that, nah just go with Salmons and Cisco backing him up.

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
Richard Jefferson Is not the answer. Cisco Is a way better shooter and might be able to do something If he can stay healthy. I would never in a million years want Earl Watson. I like Peja but been there done that. Caron butler would of been a good pick up or even a trade with Boston for Jeff Green. Lets just hope If we do spend the money Its on Good players and not the kind of players we have been getting In previous years. GO KINGS ! ! !

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
I just don't see why or how, too many guys needing minutes as it is. Garcia will be struggling for playing time already and that's where Jefferson would go, that or Salmons gets pushed which makes that trade HORRIBLE.

Nothing against Jefferson but I'd pass with our roster as it is right now. Unless we trade some wing players, Jefferson will just bunch things up.

Re: RICHARD JEFFERSON
I dont see Jefferson happy in SAC for cheap. At his age he is looking for a contender. However if the opportunity presented itself where SAC could add RJ on the cheaper side Im all for it. Add another veteran presence.

No way he even considers this team & he wouldn't make any sense for this team either. He will go to a Laker, Mav, or Heat type of team.

Remember if SA exercises the amnesty on RJ every team under the salary cap bids on the player. Teams over the salary cap cant bid ..
