vikes are in line for the third pick? :noway:

anyway there is a lot of chatter about how the vikings should look to get blackmon, but we really need help on the o-line right? and i've seen that there are quite a few big receivers going to be FA's this year

and do you think that this is the highest reiff could expect to go? or if he goes back to school for his last year could he get better?

You've got Jonathan Martin at 3 and 7.

The O-line is the biggest need, but I don't how I feel about reaching for Martin with Blackmon and Claiborne still on the board also at positions of need.

Of course I don't really know that Martin is a reach, just that 3 is higher than I've seen him in other mocks.

Fixed it, thanks for catching that. I left out Mike Adams initially and shuffled him in. That's what I get for doing it in half an hour

I wouldn't touch a receiver that high if I'm Minny. That team needs OL and secondary help pronto. They can get a functional receiver later on, a guy like Wright or Broyles or Toon in the 2nd round maybe. Free agency is a better bet for WR IMO too.

Reiff will not go any higher than what I've got him here. I think he's a marginal first round talent that will be elevated by the school he goes to and his strength numbers.

I remember really early in the season in another mock draft thread, I said Kalil would be the 1st offensive lineman off the board. At the time you told me he'd be lucky to go in the 1st round with his play. Does the #2 slot indicate he's changed your opinion? Or are you still down on him?

Random thought, but RG3 would be GREAT in Miami.

He started the year slow but has really played dominant football lately. I've seen the last 4 USC games up to last week and he has been fantastic, and the line around him really isn't very talented. He will be a top 10 pick; #2 overall might be high. I think Martin is a little better but I have changed my opinion more favorably on Kalil.

And I think RG3 in Miami would be great too. He's got the intangibles (work ethic, intelligence, natural charisma and leadership, football IQ, ability to learn and adapt) that everyone covets. If he was a taller white guy from the SEC I have little doubt he'd be a top 5 pick. Sadly there is still some lingering stigma against a brainy black QB in certain places.

I've talked to different people about him and the word everywhere is that he plays for himself, when he wants to. One of his former teammates told me Coples has played all year trying to not get hurt so he can get his paycheck. He's pretty one dimensional as a rusher too. Great first step but if that doesn't get the job done he's pretty ordinary. Think Jason Babin--can be effective in the right situation but will struggle if it's not just right.

Coples reminds me a lot of Carlos Dunlap.

That would be a near perfect 1st round for the Browns.

I prefer RG3 to Barkley but would not have any complaints at all to that 1st round.

Panthers are playing themselves out of Claiborne territory, and may see themselves looking at Kirkpatrick instead. Still, will be a solid pick, but I'd rather have Claiborne. But the last few games for Carolina may bring them back down to Earth.

It's gping to be real interesting to see how the QB class sorts itself out. Luck is obviously #1 overall, you could tattoo that on my face.

My personal rankings o' the moment:
1. Luck
2. RG3
3. Barkley
4. Tannehill
5. Weeden
6. Cousins
7. Jones
But that is still fluid. I'm down on Jones right now because the last two OU games I watched he was inadequate as far as NFL skills go.

Liking Chandler Harnish to move up as more people discover him. He's a taller (not by much) Bruce Gradkowski.

I also like GJ Kinne from Tulsa as a late-round project. Has some Sam Bradford to him, but shorter.

Tannehill over Jones? Tannehill has been a giant flop this year. He has all the tools, but he never put it together. He was a huge part of why A&M was so underwhelming this year.

From a college standpoint, yes. From an NFL scouting standpoint, Jones is the far bigger disappointment. I can find you 25 actual NFL scouts that will tell you the exact same thing.

I think that is crazy. I understand that Tannehill has some nice skills and that Jones did not live up to his hype, but I would be shocked to see Tannehill go ahead of Jones.

Jones played most of the year without his star WR and was rarely the reason Oklahoma underachieved. He has clearly fallen behind Barkley and RG3, but I have seen nothing from Tannehill to show that he should even be in the same conversation as Jones.

Jones will get drafted ahead of Tannehill, I have little doubt of that. Rating players and predicting how they will be drafted are very different fields.

True. I just don't see it with Tannehill. Not many players put it together in the NFL when they had 4 years in college and did nothing special.

I would never use a first round pick on Landry Jones. Hes battled with depression and had suicidal thoughts his first year at Oklahoma. I don't think hes nearly ready to start in the NFL, and he is going to be in a new city, with unreal expectations facing enormous competition. It all spells for a certain disaster. I dont think hes mentally cut for the NFL. Lots of fan bases would chew him up and spit him out.
