Grant Hill - One of the Greatest Suns of All Time?

Post#1 » by Nando88 » Tue Dec 6, 2011 8:30 am

With all this talk lately about whether Grant will re-sign or not, which i'm sure he will. It got me thinking...

When its all said and done, do you think he will be regarded as one of the Greatest Suns of all time?

In my opinion he will.

I know he didn't have the amazing stats he had earlier in his career but what he accomplished when coming to phoenix and having an amazing bounce back from all the injuries and establishing himself as an elite lockdown defender and plus showing great loyalty to phoenix. and he did all this at an age when most players start writing retirement speeches.

i think he will retire a phoenix suns and be inducted into the ring of honor one day and go down as one of the greatest sun of all time.

what you guys think?

Not sure on that one, but you should put that out to the media in PHX and maybe it will get him to resign. :D

I think if it were to happen, it wouldn't be really because of all he accomplished in Phoenix Suns uniform, but of what he has done for his career and like you mentioned, going through all those injuries. If he stays with us, and stays with the Suns organization after he retires then I could see him being in the Ring of Honor.

I think Grant could still post some impressive scoring stats. Nash, Carter, and Frye all took more shots per game (on average) than Grant last season. If told by the team he was the man and had to put up points I think he could average 20 per game. He takes about 10 per game now and averages 13 pts ... very efficient. Given 15 shots he would be right at 20 and if he was a chucker like Kobe who takes 20 per game he would average about 26 !! What's really impressive is he is not a prima donna (aka Kobe, LeBron).

The guy is flat out amazing and would be considered one of the top players of all-time if not for his injuries.

Just the determination he showed in coming back when he could have retired rich, and the way he's comported himself as a Sun, he's everything he wish a professional athlete would be, They should put he and Nash together on a statue outside the arena

+1.

I LOVE his crafty vet moves and those times where he climbs the ladder to dunk on someone or blocks a young player going up for the dunk over him. Sweet stuff.

Definition of class and leadership - and, of course, of leading a successful life off of the hardwood as well.

What does his time in Detroit and Orlando have to do with him being "One of the Greatest Suns of All-Time"
