Where are Kings BRAINS? D12 & CP3 are YOURS FOR THE TAKING!!

Post#1 » by The_Trade_Seer » Thu Dec 8, 2011 4:15 am

The Sacramento Kings could EASILY trade for BOTH Dwight Howard and Chris Paul and have them in the starting lineup for the opening game of this season.

The Hornets would thank their lucky stars if the Kings would make a simple phone call and offer Tyreke Evans, JJ Hickson, a future #1 pick and $3mil cash for CP3

The Magic would likewise feel like they just won the lottery if the Kings would again, make a simple phone call and offer Demarcus Cousins, the draft rights to Jimmer Ferdette and a future #1 pick for D12

The Kings could then re-sign Marcus Thornton and have a lineup as follows:

PG: CP3/Isaiah
SG: Thornton/Garcia
SF: Salmons/Greene/Honeycutt
PF: Thompson/Hayes
C: D12/Whiteside

The above is a killer lineup and a true title contender. The risk would be that CP3 and D12 could refuse to sign an extension with the Kings ... but ... why in the world would they refuse to sign MAX contract extensions that will not only pay them $30+ mil more than any other team can pay them but also allow them to play together?

Though you do have a point, I think Petrie and the Kings believe they have they're own top 3 center in the making in Cousins. Would I be totally against doing something like this, HELL NO. I'd do it in a heartbeat. I just believe Petrie isn't the type of guy to make a move like this. Just wishful thinking is all.

You Sacto fans should "occupy" and get Petrie fired. I'm serious, this is the most obvious landing spot in the entire NBA for both CP3 and D12 and not one reporter has even mentioned it ... amazing.

I'm no Kings fan ... I'm a Kobe fan (not a Laker fan, a Kobe fan, there is a difference), but I started following the Kings two years ago when they drafted Tyreke as I loved that kids game at Memphis and then really liked them last year when they drafted Cousins (my fantasy winning squad was called, "Demarcus Cousins' Cousins") who I am a huge fan of.

Anyways, I can understand Petrie sitting on his hands and doing nothing but letting your young pups develop and mature, however I really do think it's pure laziness and very foolish. The reason being, because I don't see Tyreke or Demarcus as "lifetime Kings" and think both might pine for the big lights elsewhere when their free agency hits ... I can see Jimmer staying for his entire career though.

The above said, while it's obvious even Dwight and Chris Paul pine for the big markets, they also pine to play with each other and I can't imagine either would not sign an extension with the Kings after having the most fun of their lives playing for a year together with your rabid fan base and an extra $30+mil awaiting them upon signing ...

Petrie ... WAKE UP ... give me a call if you need some motivation and shake up the NBA!

I can see it now. Both D12 and CP3 refuse to resign leaving in FA to team up in NY. Meanwhile the Kings disappear into thin air.......

Well, when Cousins was drafted he said that he wanted to be in a low key place not too unlike Alabama. Sac is a big city though, it's not Buttlick, KY or wherever, hahaha.

I'd rather the Kings stick with Evans and Cousins right now, I think they can do some special things if given the chance and the end result for that team just isn't enough talent in the frontcourt. I am firmly against the idea of Howard being your one and only post presence, he's not that great offensively and it's not like he hasn't had serious talent and opportunity around him in Orlando. If the Kings could somehow keep Hickson I'd be more down, but I want to see this team play.

And they would cite the lack of depth as a reason, hahaha. That would be crushing. And the result would be watching Cousins make multiple all star teams in the east while the Kings wait 10 years for the next legit big to come around and hope that he either slips or the Kings get the number 1 pick.

The Knicks would have to dump Amare or Melo for nothing just to have the funds to sign CP3 and D12 ... not gonna happen.

Let me fix it:

I can see it now. Both D12 and CP3 refuse to resign leaving in FA to team up in ________ (Enter any NBA team other than SAC here). Meanwhile the Kings disappear into thin air.......

Kings will have the worst record in NBA history and still get 4th pick in the NBA lotto thus missing out on yet another superstar.

Wow. CP3 and D12 could win the title this year together while Cousins and Evans may never win one even if they play the next 15 years together, ala Stockton and Malone. As for frontcourt talent ... I personally think Jason Thompson would be an ideal big to play with D12 and Hayes is no joke, not greatly talented but tough as nails ... they could always add a cheap talented guy like McRoberts too if they wanted ... they have loot to spend.

I am firmly against the idea of Howard being your one and only post presence, he's not that great offensively and it's not like he hasn't had serious talent and opportunity around him in Orlando.

Did you watch him last year or see the Hawks series ... his offense has improved dramatically, however with CP3, Thornton, Salmons and Thomspon as his running mates, scoring would not need to be his focal point whatsoever.

If the Kings could somehow keep Hickson I'd be more down, but I want to see this team play.

Thompson could be swapped with Hickson and the trade would still work ... I simply think Thompson may be a better partner for Dwight than Hickson, though I do agree Hickson is better overall.

Thornton is a great scorer but he and CP3 is pretty small and I think one reason Thornton could work with Evans is because he has the size to balance it.

The finished team is the perfect two headed beast, but...this isn't Kobe and Shaq we're talking about here and the Kings just gave up all the young potential they had in one fell swoop in this deal. This a big time championship or bust kind of move and I'm leery on both of these characters. Then there's the picks situation, the Kings could have just farked the next decade in these deals.

It just wouldn't feel right winning a championship with someone else's superstar players. We'd be following the formula of what seems to be a new era of basketball - Mega Teams. I'd feel like a fan of a big market franchise. Just the thought sounds dirty. I don't like it. But I guess winning is winning, right? Still wouldn't be the same without Reke&Boogie, though! It's an emotional thing I guess.

I don't want our team to be the next heatles... or the Boston 3 party.. Or the NY two'sm. :-?

To be fair, that would be a much better supporting cast than what Kobe/Shaq had, save for arguably their first championship.

With that said, this ultimately just isn't worth the risk. If we could guarantee both of them re-signing here, I'd have to really consider it and probably do it.. Otherwise, there's just no way. And thinking about it right this second, I don't I'd do it for just one of them--it'd have to be both.

This will never happen. No big name players want to play here. I bet Petrie is not allowed to spend more than the min cap space they have to spend. This team can add a few pieces like a Chuck Hayes, but even Dally won't be back. If Thornton doesn't resign this team will take a step back.

I saw on another Kings board just now about trading Thornton/Hickson/JT and a pick for Howard. I'd do that in a NY minute personally. Still got Reke and Boogie!!!
