Want Jays to sign Fielder? Here's how
I just created a website called www.jaysfanswantfielder.com
It's a website which collects "signatures" to form a petition where Jays fans, who are also Rogers customers, pledge to cancel Rogers accounts if the Jays do not sign Prince Fielder. In return, if they do, we will be among the many who'll snap up Blue Jay tickets for next season.
We know that this likely won't affect the outcome, but as fans, we want to be heard, and we'll let Rogers hear it through the wallets.
This doesn't mean we'll stop being baseball or Blue Jay fans if Fielder isn't coming to Toronto. We just want to watch some meaningful September games, and maybe, games in October too.

Thanks to those who are retweeted the #fieldertojays hashtag. And thanks for those who contributed with ideas and feedback during the planning phase.
Let's see where this will take us

I suggest you take this to the Raptors board.. it will have some real power if they allow you to keep it 'OT' for a few days until locking it.. you'll get ten times the support you will over on this forum

This is **** stupid. Did you ever stop and think that maybe Alex Antopoulos doesn't want to sign Fielder? Yeah; lets alienate the GM and threaten to make his decisions for him, and/or force his hand into changing the direction he wants to take the team.

How about we get out of the bottom 5 in attendance in the MLB and THEN start demanding all start signings. Under AA this has been one of the best run teams in the MLB, and is clearly on the right track to great things. Leave it to him to manage, and if you want to see more money spent on the team, get more butts in the seats.
butts in the seats is what gets more money into the team. Butts not in the seats demanding things like this before they go to games gets your team moved to another city. *this is also a big reason why toronto does not have an nfl franchise. With all the money in play in the nfl, any owner would be damn scared to go broke in a fair weather market.

A couple dozen internet posts don't have that kind of pull.
I trust AA either way on this one. Any contract Fielder gets is an overpayment. And there's more than a 50% chance the overpayment to Fielder would be so crippling as to be a net detriment to what kind of team management can afford to put on the field.

we signed vernon wells to a 100 million contract and continued to spend. you guys make such a big deal about albatross contracts. even with his contract wed be in the middle of payrolls. there are lots of overpaid players in the league, i dont see any holding their team back in any real way. when you combine the salaries of fielder and bautista, youre more than getting value

Re: Want Jays to sign Fielder? Here's how
don't get your panties in a bunch now. i think we all realize that this won't actually alter anthopoulous' route to building a contender, but at least as disgruntled rogers customers and passionate jays fans we can at least make them aware of our growing impatience year after year, and that we are not oblivious to the billions of dollars they turn in profit yearly.
and it's not even just exclusive to fielder...i mean sure the petition is, but sources would indicate that AA really liked jose reyes, but why were we not even a player for him? $$$ which this owner pretty much bleeds. if he doesn't like fielder why don't we go after pujols then.
sign the damn petition man

what the **** is wrong you. fairweather fans. get the **** off your high horse dude. you would love to see fielder protect bautista in the line-up. not that this petition would change anything either way, so i don't see why you have to come in here and piss all over something someone worked hard to do. it's a fair movement for any disgruntled rogers customer who happens to be a jays fan.

let me know the last time we sniffed playoffs. id say doubting their winning was not an unfair characterization. but no youre right, adding mvp level talent usually hurts the winning cause.

And the fans turned coat on the team just as quick. The product is MLB baseball, one of the best run teams in the mlb, that has done a great job of turning around the horrid JP richardi era which did JUST what these fair weather fans wanted in spending money like mad and running the franchise into the ground. Prince fielder doesnt make this team a play off team by him self, not unless he can do a reverse babe ruth and become one of the best pitchers ever.
