i think Kwame is a big enough body to sit inside and pull down boards and catch the odd bullet pass inside that Lebron loves. we dont need a superstar 5 to make us better. i think for the price Kwame is worth the gamble. if people forget he was a dud number 1 draft years ago and just see what he is.. a big body down low which exactly what we need.

There's a reason the Heat are apparently "interested" in every free agent

Kwame will provide solid post defense. He does a great job of holding his ground because of his strength, knows how to box out properly, and even does a good job of rotating. He's not a super strong rebounder or shot blocker, but he's an effective post defender.

Don't expect him to catch any passes though. He has tiny hands and has a reputation for bobbling passes and not taking it strong to the basket when he does manage to make a catch. I defended him a lot on the Lakers board (which was against the flow, because most Lakers fans hated him), but I couldn't really defend him much for his offense. My expectations were simply around 10 ppg with good efficiency and strong post defense, and anything else was gravy.

His deficiencies as an offensive player are well documented, and he has very little confidence in his game. He doesn't have any kind of range, can't finish strong, regularly drops CLEAN passes, and doesn't shoot free throws well. He's going to be a source of frustration if you expect him to do much of anything on offense.

He's a good locker room guy though. Everyone on the team loved him. He'll also stick up for his teammates. When Bynum and Shaq got into years ago (you might remember -- it was when they dunked on each other), Kwame was the first one to Bynum's side. He's going to do that for any of his guys. He's also got a mean streak to him at times. A few years ago he and Ben Wallace got tangled up after a play and Wallace went down. Kwame walked over to him and stood right over him as if to say, "what are you going to do?" I think overall he's a positive presence for a team as long as you limit your expectations, and he'll be a good signing for the min. I've always wanted the Lakers to bring him back as a reserve, but it's never really been on the table for whatever reason.

Edit: If you want to see a highlight reel of Kwame screw ups on offense, go watch the 3rd quarter of Game 7 of the Lakers vs. Suns 2006 playoff series. You'll see him dropping passes, missing layups, easy put-backs, you name it. That's pretty consistent with how he played during his stint with the Lakers, and I highly doubt he's improved since that time.

This is scary though, between him and Joel we should have a funny season of bloopers...

I don't think we'll have a whole lot of interest in Shannon Brown outside of him taking the minimum. As for Kwame, it's become pretty apparent Dalembert is chasing money. Getting Kwame, Battier, and returning Chalmers would be pretty ideal IMO with whats available.

Battier would be a strong addition. I was hoping we'd make a strong push to get him, but there hasn't been much chatter about it, although that can be seen as a good thing.

I think we're being used to get better offers. In this case I think we're being used so Brown can get a better offer from the Lakers who wouldn't want to see one of their main rivals strengthen.

Kwame Brown I feel like Michael Jordan probably has embarrassing pictures of him, and he'll end up staying in Charlotte.

I honestly have no idea what we're doing, or going to do. I thought a few days ago Battier and Dalembert. Now it's like Shannonw Brown and Kwame Brown?

I'm conflicted.

I would love to have Kwame in lieu of Dalembert rejecting the MLE (plus he said we'd have to request a S&T for him so he could get paid). It's always good to add wing depth, Shannon can play the PG and the SG. He's young, athletic, what we want our team to be. But, he's a chucker. One of my friends, who is an LA fan, says he will throw up stupid shots and miss them, that he has a lot of potential due to his athleticism, but he gets lazy on defense.

I'm all for it if this kid's head is screwed on right. I have a feeling that getting the Brown's will;l be at a discount rather than getting one separately. (Split MLE?)

You know most of these rumors can be:

Riley: "Would Shannon accept vet min?"
Agent: "No."
Riley: "Ok."

oh there are people who know things, and know people, watchout has called some things and been pretty consistent, we knew about the Big 3 coming aboard as a SURE THING before the media did due to a poster (who I wont mention) who knew someone close to the team. but I was just referring to that specific post not being a prelude to a free agent move, at least I didnt take it like that

Well actually, it was more based off another post GT3 made in the random thoughts thread about having spoken to Bosh.

But yeah, maybe I am reading more into it than is there.

Yeah he said he spoke to Bosh and is (GT3) at peace and very happy with the direction the Heat are going...
Then he threw the names of Tayshawn Prince, Battier and the Brown Bros and a S&T for a Center...

Let's Go #Heat!!!!!

"The Lockout gave me a lots of time to consider what was important to me at this stage of my life and career. Over the last week, I've played out every scenario in my head over and over. It always came back to one thing for me: a winning role. I am appreciative of all the kind words and recruiting pitches over the last week, thank you!!"
