I'd rather give Goudelock the mins than Kapono as he seems to be as good a shooter, but much quicker, a better passer, etc ... I also would personally have rather signed McCants though I know the Odom connection is rough and McCants is a bit of a loon ... we could of had T-Mac as well and you'll never convince me Kapono is a better signing than T-Mac.

What need does T-Mac address? We need better floor spacing, which means we have to look for shooters.

Ideally, shooters that can defend would be our best signings, and maybe we'll still be able to pull something off with our MLE. I haven't heard much of anything about Battier, which is actually kind of encouraging given that most of those deals tend to come out of left field.

I know that leaves us with a ton of 3's, but some of these guys can play both positions on defense and be used strictly for floor spacing on offense.

This is a nice signing for you guys... Kapono brings exactly what's needed - shooting, and proven shooting. He's actually not a bad rebounder despite not being athletic, but has good size.

Defensively, he shouldn't really be a problem because of team defense, and good interior size behind him.

This is an OK move, but nothing to pump up to levels of problems being solved. Kapono is awful on the defensive end of the floor, doesn't rebound well and has other flaws to his game. We'll have to protect his ass on the D end.

Dude averages 1.7 rpg for his career......only 3 times in his 8 seasons has he averaged at least 2 rebounds a game. Don't know which Kapono you're watching....the man can't rebound for squat.

Regarding Blake, I think he needs minutes with the starting unit. He's not good enough to carry a group of scrubs, and playing behind the worst PG in the league properly shatters his confidence. I know the guy has game, but if he's getting 20 minutes with our garbage bench then we're not properly utilizing him. I think he's going to start for us this year.

Agree about Blake. I'm not ready to condemn him after one year in the triangle. He'll do better in a less restrictive offense.

we're talking about a mike brown/messina offense compared to the triangle, one of the most fluid offenses with a bajillion options.

i just take offense to calling the triangle a restrictive offense for a point guard, seeing as contemporary defined positions such as point guards and shooting guards dont apply to the triangle.

if you're talking about the lead guard, then kobe was the lead guard, not fish, who was the off guard.

the triangle lead guard is closest in playing style to the traditional PG anyway, and being a lead guard basically let kobe do whatever he wanted within the structure of the offense.

i honestly never liked fish simply being called the PG because kobe occupied the 2 spot, which is the same reason as why i dont consider duncan a PF anymore simple because hes listed at PF and the teammates that occupy the 5 spot are undersized power forwards that play like power forwards

if fish was 6'6" and kobe was 6'2" and they swapped positions on paper (kobe - PG, fish - SG) but their roles remained exactly the same, u would call fish/blake the shooting guard and kobe the point guard, and therefore, would you be claiming the triangle is a restrictive offense for a SG?
