You wonder how serious the Marlins were. They reportedly offered 6/80. Only $5 million extra with an extra year attached and the most serious competitor is the team that plays 10 minutes from where he lives. I wonder how high the Marlins would've had to go to convince him to sign there.

Headline on the St. Louis papers website: "Pujols Turns His Back on St. Louis".
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Most Cards fans seem to be naturally disappointed but glad they didn't pay him that much.

I hope he never gets a statue retired in front of Busch though and I hope some utility middle infield wears #5 next year.

We've all known for a long time that Fielder was leaving. Cards fans have thought all along Pujols was coming back.

I forgot we open the season against them.

Key word there. It might be a bad contract eventually, but not for a good long while.

If I'm right about him using HGH, we could easily see a decline as early as next season. I'm not saying it will happen, but if Pujols is never an all-star again I will be less surprised than 99% of baseball fans and observers.

Short-term: Angels did teh Cards a favor.
Long-term: Cards win.

Also fitting that Mr. Classy goes to a team called the Angels.

That's kind of what I was trying to say when I said the Angels did the Cards a favor. They could sign Rollins and Ramirez for that money and end up being a better team for it, all without betting their entire future on a 32-year-old who I still think has been using HGH for years.

Wrong board, but I'm curious if the NBA truly implements a worthwhile HGH testing regimen. As with Pujols, I look at Dwight Howard and see the same thing.

Color me floored he went to Anaheim, but this really is the best case long-term scenario for the Cardinals.

With the class he has, it would not surprise me to see him not do the standard thing and take out a page ad in the newspaper thanking fans.

Rather, he will take out the entire newspaper and thank them on every page.

I'm honestly shocked that he went to the Angels, but as others have said, the last years of that deal are going to be brutal, even with the DH.

Right about now I'm really hoping to see Prince in Texas. We get him out of the NL and receive a 1st round pick in the process.

How is Chris Carpenter going to explain to his son why Albert isn't on the team anymore?
