Get Chandler and depth no CP3? Plz?

Post#1 » by Kenyon009 » Thu Dec 8, 2011 4:13 pm

We have fourteen million available to us, the signing of Chandler and a good shooting guard maybe RJ would be great. I think this team needs more depth and defense to be finited as a top contender. I think Chuck Hayes be great to have for the MLE as well. This team doesn't have another year to waste we are in the middle of our two stars primes.!

We don't have the amount of valuable pieces that either LAC, GSW, or even BOS have. Not to mention that we can't afford the amount of money CP wants. While guys like Gasol and Chandler want the max I'm sure that they are trying to meet teams "in the middle." The firing of MDA next season would also implement a new coach who wouldn't exactly love Jefferies in the middle protecting the rim either. He's a weak post defendering and in order to get to the finals you have to maneuver around guys like Howard which STAT can't do while also being a threat on the offensive side of things.

We are also relying on guys like Hill, Billiups, and Shump among others to provide points and defense for us when others are down. They are aging and Shump is an average prospect at best. I agree the way he is slowly brought up will affect the level he will perform at in the future but throwing him to the wolves from the beginning does neither of us any good. Turiaf is also injured as well I think he would be a good prospect to annesty to get more immediate cap space and re-sign for the minimum. Since basketball is a team game and although Miami got far it's because they're TEAM defense was good while our's wasn't and we have to build on that type of thing to improve our odds against top contenders so we can build a championship squad.

LOL

You realize we don't have any capspace right now, right?

And even if we did, Chandler would take up the whole $14M.

Why do we need RJ when we have Melo/Grant Hill//Walker and possibly Shawne Williams.

Always like Chandler, but he def not worth the max, maybe 9 10 mil, i think ppl are overrating him just a little bit..something feels similar to Jerome James (not to compare) but he played out of his mind in a contract year , once he gets his money is he gonna bring that same intensity in the middle.. Don't get me wrong wish the Knicks could sign him & get cp3..but i do think we can find another player that can come close to fill that void ... No RJ Nets can resign him.....

I would not be opposed to using the max money on Gallo/Felton/Chandler next year.

Tyson Chandler has received an official offer from the Warriors worth more than $60 million over four years, according to a source.

Chandler is an unrestricted free agent after spending last season with the Mavericks.

In order to sign Chandler, the Warriors will likely need to amnesty Andris Biedrins.

Golden State is hoping to receive a commitment from Chandler on the first day of free agency on Friday.

We can't even afford just Chandler yet OP wants Chandler + DEPTH.

Which Chandler are you referring to? It does not matter any way since we can't afford either one this year. The OP seems to be confused about what we can do this offseason as oppose to next. If anything this year free agent class should tell you is that second tier and third tier players don't come cheap. If you have to spend, it may as well be on quality.

Uh Oh..

KBergCBS Ken Berger
Multiple league executives say the Knicks are now in the lead to land Tyson Chandler, jumping in front of the Warriors.

If the deal goes through, the Knicks use amnesty on Chauncey Billups and move Ronny Turiaf to make room for Chandler, sources say.

I wonder what our FO's plan is..

To satisfy amar'e since he's been dropping hints throughout the off-season that he doesn't want to play the center position anymore.

EXACTLY

People keep thinking $13.5M gets you a starting C, SG, and 2 players off the bench. It barely gets you one quality player.

They want to give up CP3 for that

All threads like this do is expose the uninformed

Don’t believe the hype! Reporters are reporting anything just to gain viewership and hits. They have no clue about who is in the lead to sign anyone.
