Shannon Brown will sign a one year, $3.5 million deal with the Suns, league sources tell Y! Sports.

So it sounds like Telfair is getting our Bi-Annual Exception and Brown is getting our MLE.

That, my friends, is the PHX Suns offseason.

Well Brooks is trapped in China and Shannon signed for a 1 yr deal. I actually like him but I can't see what the strategy is.

PG - Nash / Telfair / Dowdell
SG - Dudley / Brown
SF - Hill / Childress
PF - Morris / Warrick / Lawal
C - Gortat / Frye / Lopez / Siler

Brown actually gives us good depth at the SG spot. Clearly looks as though Warrick is the amnesty candidate out our the bunch with the way our depth chart shakes out.

Strategy? Sign a SG and a backup PG to a one year deal using the MLE. Shannon Brown for this money and one year is fantastic considering other options.

I absolutely love this signing.

Finally some depth at SG, troll the Lakers, and sign one of my favorite players. Three birds with one stone. I love it.

I think he has the opportunity to excel as the energy guy leading our second unit.

Still:

PG - Dragic
SG - Brown
SF - Dudley
PF - Lou
C - Frye

All of that could still have been possible. Sigh.

Yes thats a fantastic deal at that price no question but is the plan trying to get a 7th or 8th seed? That's being overly optimistic at this point. I just don't think that roster has a good chance. A good estimate would be a 9th or 10th place finish in the West which is as bad a spot as the team can land.

He's at least young and athletic. We could have done worse.

He's a solid and cheap combo guard that can jump out of the gym and has enough of a shot to hone and perfect in a run and gun system. He's also only here for one year guaranteed, and fits into the greater plan of having a ton of money to spend in July.

The team is fine and will be much better than people think. All depends on health, and having Brown helps us in that regard, for depth purposes.

There is nothing to not like, otherwise than he's a Laker douche or if it's a sign that Grant isn't returning, and I'm not sure this deal means that.

I like this signing. I would save the amnesty for next sumer so if we found a sf we like we could amnesty childress or pf we could do warrick. Either way, I'd lean towards childress - because of his contract.

Agree! If Hill resign's, we'll have a solid team with bench play. If not I'm not sure about the direction.

I like the signing too

PS I've always thought Shannon Brown looks somewhat like Chris Brown

I think that Brown will start. There's no other reason to sign with us.

Of course he isn't great. That's why we signed him for a cheap one year deal.

I like Brown but we already have a glut of guards who can drive but can't shoot. This just makes the Childres and Warrick ssignings even more redundant.

With this schedule they all will get a lot of playing time.
