Easy on Chauncey now....Dude is a player...But I aint mad at the knicks at all...LOL

We don't owe him anything. Old-ass chucker is making bank for playing one out of every three games, and when he DOES play he plays like an a$$-hole. I still can't shake that game last season where he single-handedly f*cked us over against Detroit and had the audacity to celebrate with his former teammates after the game and bask in the crowd's applause.

There are a ton of PG's in the league, and the officiating has made being a PG easier than it's ever been. Even with all the rule changes, no NBA champion has won a chip because of PG play since Isiah's Pistons. One could argue that Billups was instrumental for the Pistons, but I dont think he was more important than either Ben or Rasheed Wallace.

Mavs won because of their frontcourt, so did all those spurs teams. Miami won with a SG and Shaq, The Spurs won chips because of TD, not TP, Shaq and Kobe won without a true pg, so did Jordan's and Hakeem's teams.

I love cp3, he's easily my favorite non knick, but he's less important in the grand scheme of things than we all think.

Point being, D'Antoni can find a "pure pg" a la Felton or Duhon, and turn them into a pretty effective PG. I don't think the answer is shumpert douglas or anthony carter, but there are options out there that will allow us to flourish with the frontcourt we're on the verge of having.

No matter who it is, if that PG can't run the PnR, then we will have a problem

Well put. The Knicks add AI and/or BD and the PG position will be fine this year.

What part of "needs to be able to run the PnR was unclear?

Another reason to be happy about this:

7) Who did Tyson Chandler's team beat in the Finals? Been there, beat THAT!

Be a nice move for Miami, no doubt...But I still like a frontline of Amare, Melo and Chandler, irregardless LOL

10 and 9 on a championship team is not average. He's a legit center who does the dirtywork, and in his prime.

He is a top 5 center. Which may be redundant, because the talent is so shallow, but you cannot deny it.

You're talking about CHandler right?
the difference between Davis playing in Clev or for the Clips and here is night and day.

Yeah, Davis is a guy who checks out when his team has no chance of winning. terrible quality. But here in NY under D'Antoni with the kind of leadership and play we are bound to get out of Amare and Melo then Davis will come correct every night, Im certain of it
Agreed. Im not trying to downplay Barons injury concerns, I guess Im just looking at the best possible scenario.

Can't the Knicks just sign and trade Billups and Turiaf for Tyson Chandler?

Why did they resign him to that 1 year deal if they are going to use the amnesty on him? Makes no sense.

Either you trade him or keep him.

It would have been uglier if the Knicks had not picked up Billups his option after his inclusion in the Melo. $14.2 million is A LOT of money. For the Knicks to have gotten the Melo deal done, they probably had to agree to a handshake deal of picking up Billups' option.

Im fairly certain that is a false statement

I meant blocks, my bad. He is 10 and 9 though which is really solid.

In only 28 minutes per game.

If this goes down, I'm not too worried about the point guard situation. Seems as if there are a lot of guys we'd have a chance to acquire.

When he's motivated, on a good team, in a good environment, dude can ball. He is one of those players that steps it up in big games too.

He is a ballhog, chucker, doesn't take care of his body and he still has enough ego that he thinks he should be a 2nd-3rd option on a team.

I don't even think this PG friendly system could help.

He's a top 5 defensive center.

Now it'll be up to our trainers to keep him and STAT healthy

I'm not worried about his motivation.

I'd be worried about his condition. Guy like him probably gained weight over the lockout and during his stay in Cleveland.

he should be mad at denver. that's why he's here in the first place.

But what does it really matter? The only thing at stake here assuming the Knicks are going to actually do that is there would be no chance that the Knicks woudn't have to pay the $13 million he's owed for this season. It still doesn't do a thing to damage the cap they'd need for Chandler. So Billups wont' get claimed. And he'll slip through the bidding phase. And then he'll become an outright FA (who will still be paid $13 or so million). And? Honestly, Wojina is trying to dig out whatever he can't isn't he. Lovely human being. Lovely.

Maybe the Mavericks don't want Billups for $14.2 million, even if it's an expiring deal. They may be better off getting a trade exception for Chandler instead.

10 and 9 is average, championship team aside.

10 and 9 doesn't deserve $14 million a season.

Also, 10 and 9 aside, his career averages are 8 and 8.

Hall of fame worthy!

Would love to have him, but dont wanna overpay...lets be real, between Turiaf, Jeffries, and Jorts, we have the most injury proned C in the league, the skinniest C in the league, and the most inexperience C in the league...

BTW, can someone PLEASE explain to me how exactly the amnesty works? You just waive a player w/o having to pay him?
