This guy is an average NBA center.

At Dwight Howard price!

Let's offer Billups for Dwight Howard and see whether Orlando bites.

Howard is underpaid by 25 million a season. No point to compare max salaries to anyone else's.

we're all so quick to dismiss what's going on with cp3. with his two best friends on this team, Paul can still force the league owned Hornets to come to NY, taking any deal they can get from us which could include Shump, TD, and some picks. Let's not jump the gun here...

2nd best defensive center in the league
very fast center, very good in transition as we saw with Paul in NO
was a major factor in getting the championship for Dallas, not just in the finals either

Ask the Bulls fans how they felt about Chandler coming into camp way out of shape after signing that huge deal

How out of shape? He's always been skinny. It was during the Finals that one of those guys said that Tyson Chandler was the most positive person he's ever been around. He's supposed to have super high character actually.

He's also played at least 70 games in 7 out of 10 years of his career.

We are paying him a lot and he's not a scorer but your specific critiques here seem unfounded.

Maybe the Mavericks don't want Billups for $14.2 million, even if it's an expiring deal. They may be better off getting a trade exception for Chandler instead.

Is there a reason that the Knicks would even bother with a sign-and-trade? If they amnesty Billups then they're basically using their own cap to sign a unrestricted FA. 4 years doesn't require a sign-and-trade.

Remember if Billups is Amnestied teams bid to get him. It's not as simple as claiming him and paying him vet min. The Knicks could have some of that cost covered by whoever wins the bidding. Plus that doesn't mean Billups gets to choose where he wants to go, he goes to the highest plantati... er... bidder.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

They get paid, but we get the cap room. Teams under the salary cap get the first crack at the player.

10 and 9 on a championship team is not average. He's a legit center who does the dirtywork, and in his prime.

10 and 9 is average, championship team aside.

10 and 9 doesn't deserve $14 million a season.

Also, 10 and 9 aside, his career averages are 8 and 8.

Hall of fame worthy!

Such pointless stuff.

Who was the center of Dallas when they won a ring last year?

He's a top 5 defensive center.

Now it'll be up to our trainers to keep him and STAT healthy

Screw our doctors and trainers. Hire the Suns' staff by tripling their pay.

I guess the Knicks should one of all those other 10 and 9 centers in the league then. There must be at least 10 of them.

Billups might be shouting at the rain here.

Team claims him, he doesn't show, team doesn't lose a damn thing. He's gotta show up to work to get paid, including from his new team.

Yeah, he might put up a stink, how much of a stink is he going to put up if his choices are retirement or $14m?

to be CLEAR - he doesn't get ANY moment, not even his Knicks money, if he's claimed and doesn't show.

Why wouldn't a team place a minimum salary, no-risk bid on him?

they definitely want the expiring contract because they want deron. the knicks aren't using the amnesty on chauncey, he's going in a sign and trade for chandler.

I find it amusing that just the other day Howard Beck writes an article about how the Knicks have no plan B and are "third max cat or bust" plan.

And not two days later, we bust out our plan B from our backpocket once our organization realized that we didn't have the assets to get CP3.

We could save our amnesty clause that way.

The player still gets paid. The money doesn't count against the cap.

Also - this thread is moving so damn fast it's making me dizzy.

I think he's well above average.

At being injured and offensively inept.

This is flying under the radar here, but the Suns just signed Shannon Brown. Could a release or trade of Nash follow?
