We open space for other players though.

knock off 40% of Melo's contract and Amar'e contract (by extending him in years) --> frees up 8 million. go check the other thread specifically on the loophole.

Already posted in the other thread, but why would Melo or Amar'e agree to this at all? They're cutting into potential future earnings if/when they re-up their current contracts. Unless you're assuming that they'll be retiring in 4 years, it makes no sense for them to do it.

Chance to win championship. Plus, we could always re-sign them after to help recoup potential losses.

Stuckey available, Bibby available, Barea, Patty Mills, eghhh, i dont know....just not a fan of Davis

I threw out Delonte West earlier. Probably too much of a risk there.

I'd take Stuckey over Davis, that's about it though.

Everyone loved the original Allan Houston signing which was great.

Everyone hated the contract extension that Allan Houston got.

Hate on me I don't care... didn't like the initial signing at all, hated the extension totally.

I guess not everyone then

But its ok. I don't hate you.

Defense? Check.
Rebounding? Check.
Runs the floor? Check.
Injury prone? Liability.
Motivation? Liability?
Does he improve our team? Yes.
Does he improve our chances of winning? Yes.
Does he limit our roster moves? Yes.

I love and hate this move at the same time really, gotta wait until the dust settles and see what other pieces fall into place.

Still developing, I'd say Chandler right now is better than Jordan.

While I don't think Chandler should be getting more than $12m/year, this allows the Knicks to re-sign their young players next year, offer a MLE deal longer than one year this year (so they can get better players), and still be able to use the MLE next season. It

Assuming they deal Billups for Chandler, the Knicks can still pick up a amnesty PG (like possibly Baron Davis) to start in the backcourt and tutor Shumpert. Chandler would give NY the best defensive/rebounding C behind D. Howard and maybe Joakim Noah.

Rebounding and defense was the biggest problem for the Knicks last year, and if Chandler can stay healthy, NY will likely be a title contender, without Paul or Nash. I don't know, maybe Chandler will be used in a Howard trade next year.

I'll be happy without have to hear about Paul or Howard all year, or worry about how were are going to keep our young guys.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...

Don't really get why you would question his motivation. He doesn't seem to have a bad rep in regards to effort when he is on the court.
