i think the bidding for waived players only gives precedence to worse records when the team is willing to take on the contract

once a player clears waivers hes a free agent

there is the waiver then i believe there is a bidding process for people only under the cap then if nobody bids on him he is a complete FA

y'all need to stop with this shump BS. he's a late first round pick that excited nobody in the world before he twittered that he's been working hard. now all of a sudden he's a young rod strickland. nash at 40 will school him.

couldn't help myself :D

Thanks.

Reading some of these posts, it seems some of these poster regard the following in this order:

God
Melo
Amare
Shump
Biological Mother/Father
everything else

Really, I'm hoping for all the best... but dude hasn't even played an NBA minute yet. I guess this is why we are so fickle. Once his play is defined as back to earth, everyone will be turning on him like they are on Fields. Then once he is traded, the suicide hotlines will be clamoring with business.

Take it easy youngins, let him play first before we make him out to be anything.

What Davis would lack in defense Shumpert and TD would bring off the bench.

Exactly - a team under the cap could bid the minimum for Baron - and if it was the only/highest bid - Baron would go to that team.

If you look at it this way... Ty-C starts at $13mil-ish and ends at $15mil-ish.... bad, yeah, but not the worst contract evar.

So it's really sounding as if this is a done deal:

Multiple sources tell Newsday that Tyson Chandler will be a Knick. Billups and Turiaf involved to clear cap space. #Knicks #fb

Do we really have to unload Turiaf to make the room? He would be perfect as our backup 4/5.

I think the Knicks have some plans around the point guard position. They won't go into the year with Douglas/Shumpert as our only options there.

gotcha

Im sure he can have influence on his destination.

especially with Davis you dont want to bring him into a team that he doesnt want to play for

If I need to compare a contract to the worst contract ever to justify it then it's not a good deal.

It's worlds better than David Lee's contract.

I mean we all know that you have to overpay for centers in this league, especially one's that have proven that they can actually play. I'm not upset with this contract, just still rather shocked because where did this come from?

We have all clamored to improve our interior defense, team defense, improve on the boards and gain a legit shot blocking presence. Chandler does improve all of these areas, as well as giving us a good rebounder on the offensive end.

are these same people who are saying it's a bad deal also saying that we don't need a center?

He'd just be keeping the seat warm until Nash comes.

You can't play defense while you are sitting on the bench...enough of these one sided players who you expect to be 'covered from the bench'....

What good bigs are there not on a rookie deal who get paid less than 10-12 million? We overpaid a little, but it was something that needed to happen to make us contend.
