Billups
Looks like NY will use the amnesty clause on Billups. Should we put in a bid for him. He could be a great mentor for Jimmer and provide this club with some leadership.

On paper I'd like it but I'm sure he wouldn't be thrilled to be here. I don't want disgruntled vets hurting our chemistry.

Its not like he's cship hunting right now, he already has one. I don't think he'll bedisgrunlted. Just overpay him a little on a short contract, make it worth his while

I agree, and if he is waived/amnesty bet he ends up in miami.

Re: Billups
I've been very vocal about wanting him for almost a year now, but there are already Tweets saying "buyer beware"--basically saying he's going to be pissed if he ends up on a team he doesn't want to be on.

Re: Billups
Only teams under the cap can bid on amnestied players. And there's no way someone doesn't snatch him up before he clears waivers.

I have to think teams will avoid him if he very clearly refuses.
Although Petrie has ignored that before.

Re: Billups
I really hope you guys pick up billups. i think he is a perfect fit for you. ive liked your team for awhile and think evans and cousins is going to be a very good combo but i was really worried about the lack of defense and leadership. with hayes and billups you guys would be a playoff team imo.
Billups/Jimmer
Evans/Thornton
Salmons/Greene
Hayes/Thompson/Hickson
Cousins/Thompson
That looks like a very well balanced team with some nice star power.

Pick up Billups for cheap in the amnesty bidding and worry about everything else afterwards. Very least he will be trade bait if he holds out. Stack your chips.

If the Kings were lucky, this would be a great addition! Billups, Hayes and even adding another veteran would make the Kings stronger than before!

Re: Billups
Per Billups' agent, from yahoo sports.
“He’s irate under the circumstances,” Miller said. “He felt this would be his final destination, and he was promised that he would be playing for a team that was going to be competing for the playoffs. He has no intention of being open-minded about any possible situation where a team would claim him off waivers unless it’s a team he chooses himself. Buyer beware.”

I wouldnt let this deter the Kings from bidding on Billups. This report sounds like an agent doing his job in attempt to get his client to a contender.. Too bad for Billups he WILL be claimed. Teams cannot allow the players to keep manipulating the system just because they dont get their way. Its a business.

Re: Billups
Wait - can NY even AFFORD to use the amnesty clause? I'm not sure they have enough players left on the roster to compete without him with after that trade... lol
Although I must say, it would be nice to see Mr Big Shot in a Kings uniform, and he could teach our young guys a thing or two. But yeah, I doubt he'd like it here.

Even having Billups for 1 year is still good for the kings. And after that he may go anywhere he wants!

No way he even considers coming here. He will end up with a contender I just hope it's not the Lakers.

Build it...and they will come. It doesn't work the other way around. They don't come before you build it. Also big cities are over rated. Nobody wants to go to a losing team just because they were in a big market.

The Knicks have sucked since Allan Houston has been on the shelf. Really? What have the Knicks won in the last 20 years? They went to the finals in the strike shortened season and that has been it.
