I mean really. We only had one logical window to splurge. And we wouldn't have had max money available.

So rule out Paul, Howard, Deron...

Who else were we going to sign?

People are just hurt over CP3. He was always a long shot.

"But if CP3 wants to play in NY he'll come to NY". That is still true. Maybe even more so because we got one of his best friends.

I'm actually in favor of holding onto our amnesty option as an insurance policy against Amare's health. I have tons of respect for what he's accomplished for us; but if his knees give out, his contract will be an albatross.

I rather hold on to the amnesty in case chandler breaks down or really doesn't live up to his contract.

Amnesty can only be used on players signed before the new CBA, so it won't be able to be used on Tyson Chandler.

When healthy with NOH he was actually pretty damn nice, his foot was just always messed up. The only reason he didn't go to OKC is because of the physical, not because of anything else. They made the effort to trade for him for a reason.

I mean Chandler is no Jerome James, no Ronny Turiaf dude does have legit talent and does make an impact on the game. I mean on paper it's hard to think of a better and realistic fit next to Amar'e.

He is probably the best fit at center next to Amar'e of any center out there. And he directly addresses our biggest need. The only options in the free agent market for center next offseason are Oden and Kaman.

again, for us there's no difference between 10 mill a year or 14. it has no bearing on what we're able to do whatsoever.

a bit premature.

if CP3 tells people he will sign an extension with LAL, Knicks gotta jump ship.

This is an excellent signing. He provides rebounding, defense, and leadership. He's gritty, hard nosed, and motivates and pushes his teammates.

great signing.

How many times have we complained about a lack of interior defense? rebounding? Chandler solves all of these issues and more.

Memphis almost beat OKC by playing tight on the perimeter. You can build a great defensive team by shutting down the perimeter or by playing strong man to man defense. Ibaka is a great weakside shotblocker and Dirk shred him to bits because he couldn't guard man to man.

Chandler looked good playing next to Dirk,Kidd,Terry,Marion etc... we don't have that foundation in NY. We've got a guy who's only played under one coach and besides last year one PG. This team will look bad early on... the offense will be melo iso'ing and stat barreling. It's not going to work. Give me 2 guys who put up 5 and 5 for 5 million per over chandler for 14.5 all day any day.

....Amare shoots jumpers. He's got a mid range game to the point where a P&R isn't necessary. What guys are you going to find? You want to contend or not? You have to spend to win.

Chandler looked good grabbing rebounds and playing defense taking pressure off of Dirk. It had nothing to do with Marion, Kidd or Terry.

I'm not sure about that. If the team is convinced they don't have a good shot at sighing Chris Paul in free agency, this may actually be our best move to counter the Heat's team. This team will look really good once we bring in a veteran point guard, which I think is a foregone conclusion.

Chandler looked good playing next to Dirk,Kidd,Terry,Marion etc...

But the things Chandler does aren't really dependent upon them. It's not like Rondo, where he looks good throwing the ball to 2 of the best shooters in the game. And if Chandler looks good next to Dirk/Marion there's every reason to believe he'll look equally good next to Carmelo/Amar'e.

So CP3 to the lakers is off, and all of a sudden this goes quiet.

There was plenty of room for Dirk to operate.

We don't have the capspace to sign any of those guys outright. It would have to be a sign and trade. If anything, you can still look at Tyson Chandler as a trade asset for the offseason.

I hope you guys aren't counting on dudes taking massive discounts for the privilege of playing on the Knicks
