I dunno. Chandler was a nobody when Dallas got him and he blew up. I feel like Jordan is about to do the same.

Option B sounds much better.

Jordan is not an option. He's a RFA.

Some people never seize to amaze me. Since Marcus Camby, this team has had an enormous hole at Center. The likes of which have been called upon by Eddy Curry, Michael Doleac, Othella Harrington, Nazr Mohammad, Jackie Butler, Jerome James, Kelvin Kato, Earl Barron, & Randolph Morris. On top of this, we have been playing PF's at Center (See Amare and David Lee) for quite some team and that has not worked either. I completely understand why most people want Chris Paul. Pound for pound when healthy he is the best PG in the game and I would love to have him. But lets just be real about something...your'e not winning a chip without a legitimate Center getting 30-32 minutes a game. Another thing that's not being talked about when it comes to Chandler is the fact that he is not a laboring Center. He can run the floor with the likes of Amare and Melo, and is the perfect fit to help the overall defensive mindset of the team. For once, it will be nice to have a starting Center that doesn't get changed every other game. Chemistry is everything, and this can be the beginning of an extremely successful foundation between Chandler, Amare, & Melo.

I got a strange feeling that this will be our starting lineup next year.....

Chandler
STAT
Melo
Shumpert
Paul

"A big part of the NBA's new CBA will be a "renegotiation and extension" provision.

It will allow players to be paid a smaller amount over a long period, but the salary cannot decrease by more than 40 percent.

A renegotiated salary previously could only increase a salary"

Also now lets see how our defense goes this year, Woodson was brought in for defense and now actually has a few pieces he can work with. Going to be interesting if he even makes an impact at all, but we do have a legitimate anchor now.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

You guys are absolutely nuts. I'd much rather have Tyson at 14M than DeAndre freaking Jordan at 10M.

"Split the cash to also get a PG?" What for? The remaining cash after signing DeAndre Jordan or a Nene (who also got offered a max by Denver, mind you) or a Dalembert is going to be no more than the MLE anyway. We can still fill our holes, while still getting the best center available not named Dwight.

sigh...

You don't have $14m. You have $14m IF you get rid of Balkman, renounce Fields, Douglas and trade Shumpert.

And oh, you don't get the full MLE either.

It's more like $13.5 MLE, and the $2.5mle

or...

Chandler, Fields, Douglas, Shumpert and the $5m MLE.

THOSE are your choices.

When I look at stats, I see a guy who is voted 2nd in Defensive Player Of The Year. The Mavs had Marion, Stevenson, Haywood, Kidd, Terry in 2010 and had poor defensive stats until Tyson got traded for scraps.

If Tyson made no change to that team, they wouldn't have lost to the Spurs in the first round.

Oh well.

We could afford him with the MLE. Unless he actually thinks he's getting more than that.

Im sorry but anyone who is comparing chandler to any bust player we have signed is out of there mind. this guy is a proven champion, he is the reigning champion. None of those players you named up there have ever proven themselves. Got to respect Chandler because of the ring on his finger, Im hoping he sets this defense straight like KG did with the Celtics and liek he did with the Mavs

Exactly, some people just don't understand basketball is about plus and minuses. Its about time the knicks make move to defense. We have proven that we can score. We add Mike Woodson and sign Chandler. IM LOVING THIS!!

6th seed is barely a playoff team? Your making us sound like the Bucks or Sixers. Relax, bro. Give it a chance before you knock it.

How is being overly positive and better than being overly negative? Never understood that criticism. We're all making predictions here.

Are you really comparing our team to Dallas? We can't even win a playoff game while Dallas has been perennial contenders for pretty much an entire decade. Obviously, I'm gonna sound like the Debbie downer here in a pool of overly positive fans.

This is just like when Chicago signed Ben Wallace. They thought Deng/Hinrich/Gordon was a contender so they didn't mind paying that much for a specialist like Big Ben.

Did you just compare Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony to Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon?

SMFH...

If you took those three at the absolute peak of their value and tried to trade them for STAT and Melo at their absolute lowest value, you'd get laughed out of the building and then fired by your own team for wasting company time on idiotic trade proposals.

Not even close to being analogous situations.

+1

Good to see another voice of reason in here, VV.

Are people just chuffed that we didn't get to sign CP3? Is that the reason everyone is bitching?

Oh, wait. This is good ol' RGM-NYK. Bitching is what we do.

After years of hearing how we have to become a better defensive team, we do that with this deal, and people are still complaining. Unbelievable.

Chandler is not a bad signing, but at $14m/year, it will be the worst signing of the last decade.

Also, didn't Phoenix put Robin Lopez next to Amare? They co-existed so well they got to the WCF. I'm pretty sure Chandler is better than Lopez. We still will be able to add Nash next summer. Good signing, great potential for this team now.

You would really think Carmelo Anthony and Amare would sign with the Knicks for them to add Jeff Foster, Shelden Williams, Jared Jeffries and some other random guy at center and expect to contend with that?

Adding Tyson is why these guys come to NY, LA, etc. They know these teams will add names to help them in ways their team didn't do.
