On Knicks-Chandler front, sources say it looks like Billups will be amnestied and Turiaf will be sent out in separate deal. No sign/trade.

Let's do it, make it official.

This makes this trade stupid. We waste our amnesty on a guy who is very serviceable with one year left on this deal? Thats really stupid I cannot justify that. You got to save that amnesty incase of a crazy freak injury in the future.

i wonder who turiaf is getting us.. pg maybe? if not i'd keep him.. he'd be perfect in his 10-12 mpg role backing up chandler

Regarding CP3 to LA, am I the only one that doesn't really think it's gonna work with him and Kobe in the same back court?
Just a thought....

Of course, that's why I can't see people being mad at this signing. Either he's a top-flight center for us, or he's an attractive piece in a sign and trade.

Although they do have Okafor who is arguably better than Chandler in the same particular way

And it's not like Billups is irreplaceable. He's not. We can find a good PG out there to run things better than he did chucking his way to glory.

If we keep Amar'e that is. If we don't, it's still a good frontline, and we could have an elite PG.

Baron Davis can do everything Billups does. But I'd go after Barea.

Chris Duhon/Raymond Felton/Chauncey Billups/?

Good point. Hadn't really thought about that.

Duhon and Felton (labeled as career backups) actually looked like starting point guards here, so maybe picking up a serviceable point won't be as hard as people think.

As a starter? No thanks.

can't use the knicks as leverage against the suns with the news about chandler

Wow that sucks. It might be because we lost our MLE with this. Only have the $2.5M exception now.

And...how do you expect to do that? We can't sign him outright because he's going to get a nice contract.

As for Turiaf -- trade with Denver for Miller wouldn't be bad (aside from him being a poor defender and having limited range).

That's why I can't justify giving 14mil/yr for a specialist until we have our core in place. I've never wanted Amare or Melo. But if those were the two guys we needed to get to lure CP3, I was on board. That's my position.

why does it always have to be broken down like this with chandler melo and amare we absolutely have a chance at a championship.... we had none... not a slim chance ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE at winning a championship for 5+ years before stat came.

Id love to hear what moves you would have made to get us back to championship contention if you cut everything off right before we signed stat that would have made us this much better that fast.

Well, Chandler wouldn't have to go to NOH directly. We could get a third team involved.

However, we can't trade Chandler until December, right? I don't think CP3 will still be available by then, but maybe.

If only we could trade James Dolan for Jerry Buss.

Use that 2.5M to sign Deshawn Stevenson if we are getting a PG back via trade.

True but that's not an issue if you are catering to NO's needs and you get a 3rd or 4th team involved.

Turiaf can't get us anything or the Knicks won't be able to sign Chandler.

Good. Hope it's over. They must have called Kobe & he said Bynum goes, not Pau.
