Owners were irate in Board of Governors meeting with Stern, livid that the league-owned Hornets were allowed to make Paul deal, sources say.
"We’ll find a way to either make him a very useful player in our organization, or whatever"

I can see the motivation behind it. A premier big (feel free to argue that point, everyone) was available. Our choices were to trade away all of our youth or amnesty Billups.

Let's face it - Chandler on the open market was not going to last long. Someone else would have surely dealt for him. And if Plan B was to get a serviceable big, giving Billups the amnesty was the only real way to go.

Thank god Paul was traded. Now, we can stop hearing these dumb "Amare for Paul" reports trying to make us look stupid.

the same ones saying we should sign Chandler are now saying we should have traded for Paul.

Oh man. Maybe they can start locking each other out. It's like a bad fantasy league. Didn't know there was Yahoo-style vetoing.

Maybe this is how they keep track of rosters, one Giant Yahoo league.

I agree but the good in this deal outweighs the bad.

No it actually doesn't. STat god forbid goes down and you don't have that Amnesty card in your pocket... was that worth it for Chandler at 4/60mil? Hell no...

Yes, because without a defensive big next to Amare your not going to win a title anyway. It may even help preserve him.

On what grounds?

On the grounds that the Lakers are currently owned by the NBA and it's in their collective best interest NOT to allow this to go through. What are the Charlottes and OKCs of the world supposed to say to the fans when this ish is allowed to happen right under their noses?

Man, a team owned by the league can't work the cap.

If the owners didnt like the Lakers deal, they would have hated our proposal of Fields, Billups and TD.

Like i had said way before, the league would have rioted if that went through

There is a Cap Minimum right? Denver should need to add some players if I'm not mistaken.

How about Chauncey goes back to Denver for a TPE that we can use to sign Chandler in a S&T for the TPE to the Mavericks?

At the same token we could then do Balkman&Turiaf for Andre Miller because Denver wouldn't need Miller anymore and they would end up with about 6Mio more Money commited most of which will be cleared after this season.

This would leave Denver with its favorite Son and some Hustler Players to hold over until they decide what they want to do, it would get the Mavs a huge TPE which is better then just letting Chandler go and it would bring us an intelligent PG for a year and would still save our Amnesty in case there are some problems with a contract later on...
