Odom/Gasol situation...
Heat fan but I promise I am NOT trolling. I just read that both Odom and Gasol are (rightfully so) very hurt by the attempted trade and may not report tomorrow. They feel unwanted and it is obviously very understandable that they are in a weird mental place right now after being traded and then being told "just kidding, come back."
So, with this said...How are the Lakers going to remedy this? Are there any other deals you guys have heard of where Odom/Gasol will be shipped out regardless or is this just a "whoops" situation and they are going to have to tough it up and collect a paycheck?

Re: Odom/Gasol situation...
Its not just Odom and Gasol but every player in the trade is going to remain disgruntled. The Rockets will have the same issue with half their roster being involved and Chris Paul seems to be the most bitter of them all.
There's nothing you can do about it than laugh it off once the training camp begins and treat this as an occupational hazard.

Yeah but I think its fair to say that neither the Rockets nor the Hornets were going to be legitimately competing for a Title this year, so I don't think they are as concerned with disgruntled players as the Lakers would be...no?
At this point if I'm Kupchak, I'd like to think he's looking for another deal regardless.

Re: Odom/Gasol situation...
All of this talk pertaining to "disgruntled players" is being blown out of proportion. Of course, initially, everyone involved will be upset-- Eventually, everyone will move on. There's no need to "look for another deal" for the sake of moving potentially disgruntled players.
There are men on this team that can aid in moving past this, and perhaps even creating a more aligned unit. Fisher, and Bryant, are on record supporting this current squad, and they can ingeminate that consistently. Peace can help Odom, on a much more personal level. All of the players in the locker room are friends, and there's no reason to believe they'd hurt each other by dogging it.

I think you mean 'impulsory', which isn't a word, in which case you actually mean impulsive.
Right?

This.
I think that at this point, the Lakers need to part ways with these guys for either a replacement player similar to cp3 (i.e. Deron) or a package of talent...just did not know if there was any news in LA as per any other trades on the table.

ive always liked deron better...and i dont think he is a hater so much as being in utah, and playing for the jazz who fancy themselves the anti-everything l.a....he gets wrapped up in that...i dont love chris paul...dis everyone lose their damned minds with this guy? remember when he quit on byron scott? guy is a dick...and its not like we have the zenmaster anymore to hold his ego in check...weve got the penultimate empty-suit figure head, head coach in fat boy brown...paul is going to play anybetter for him than he would some other coach...this trade is 100% jim buss+mike brown....and this is the sad future of this org. plus lamar and pau deserved to be treated better than this...
jeannie needs to stage a coup and get jim far away from this team...cause this is the crap he will be doing if in control...

Re: Odom/Gasol situation...
By far one of the most weirdest days I've even seen in the NBA. I understand LO's and Pau's feelings, but this is a business of pro sports. You know the deal from when you're a kid dreaming to play pro sports, that you can be traded. Today's players are too damn sensitive to withstand the rigors of trade rumors, they get so bent out of shape.
Yes it will be awkward, best thing that Mitch can do is just call both and tell them to chill for a few days. But on the other hand if these guys are taking this to heart that strong, then the relationship is irreparable. Dr.Buss owns the Lakers to win titles and that's the only objective ever, and to fulfill that quest players are the exchangeable pieces to the equation.
Everything happened so fast with this BS, because that's what it is now. LO was complaining about not getting a call.....damn how did he know if Mitch had gotten to that point yet ? Pretty sure he was still doing the needed paper work, Mitch would have informed him and Pau when the time merited doing so. It's BS to front Mitch like that on his tweet page.
Truth be told though, this stuff won't happen if you just put out like you're suppose to. We live off equity here too damn much. Point blank both sucked ass in the playoffs. If guys think they're above not being moved because of their sucky performances then I'm at a loss for words. Hell Robert Horry had one bad playoff for us in his 7 years here, but we didn't bring him back after 2003 basically because of one missed 3.......after all the other 3's that saved our a$$e$.
We'll see how this plays out, the vibe won't be right for a minute. Hopefully Mitch and Jimmy can get this straight. Hell in a weird way this could work for us.....but they have to have strong heads to reverse it.
Champions don't retreat, they charge forward.

to be fair...horry had gotten his rings and his family lived in texas, and he was ready to live there too...we didnt dump him over a missed 3...and the whole damned team sucked against dallas...so if thats the reason for trades...then trade em all...

No....he wanted come back though, and the 3's was used as an example because he had sucked all playoffs with his 3 ball. Management thought he reached the end of the line with them. Playoff performances is what management will always grade the players on like it or not.kobeaki wrote:to be fair...horry had gotten his rings and his family lived in texas, and he was ready to live there too...we didnt dump him over a missed 3...and the whole damned team sucked against dallas...so if thats the reason for trades...then trade em all...

Re: Odom/Gasol situation...
“I guess that means I’m a Laker if the trade didn’t go through,” a somber Odom said in a phone interview with The Times. “I don’t know what to do for the Lakers. I’m even weirded out by the league doing what they did. I don’t know what to do.”
Odom said he thought it was “a lie” when he was first told about the trade to New Orleans.
“And then it doesn’t go through,” Odom said. “Oh, lord. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’ll pray about it.”
The Lakers open training camp Friday at their facility in El Segundo.
“Maybe I’ll see you there tomorrow [at practice],” Odom said. “But I doubt it. You don’t want to go to no place you’re not wanted. I’ll try to give them what they want as much as possible.”
Odom also felt bad for Gasol.
“Imagine how Pau feels,” Odom said. “Pau came to the Lakers and played here for four years, went to the Finals and lost, won two NBA championships and then got swept [by the Dallas Mavericks this year]. Wow! Imagine how he must feel.
“Man, I’m just in total disbelief about all of this,” Odom continued. “They don’t want my services, for whatever reason. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I was proud to be a Laker, so I’ll try to help them in the process as much as possible."
