heres some free agent news. thaddeus young was talking with the nuggets on monday and supposedly some good conversations were had. now if we do happen to acquire young then wilson chandler as a nugget is pretty much over. he will be in some sort of s&t for a draft pick or a young talent. also al thornton is supposedly in training at the pepsi center. not sure if we need him but he could get a role off the bench. also if young does turn out to be a good player, we could possibly look to trade gallinari for a high draft pick, to get a really strong pf like anthony davis in the draft.

lawson/miller
afflalo/hamilton
young/thornton
gallinari/faried
mozgov/koufos

not a bad lineup but gallinari has some bulking up to do.

That's actually not a very terrifying lineup.

I think Young might be a decent pick up for the future, but I don't see the point in picking up Thornton.

I'd be happy if we let Nene walk and get overpaid, front max offer Marc Gasol and let the Grizzlies match, and just re-sign Afflalo.

I still think it'd be best for us to throw this season away and aim for a top 3 draft pick since there are some very very good bigs in the upcoming draft class.

I'll be fine if we ran a lineup with something like this for the season:
Lawson (32) / Miller (16)
Afflalo (33) / Miller (15)
Gallinari (30) / Hamilton (18)
Faried (28) / Birdman (20)
Mozgov (28) / Koufos (20)

Keep Harrington for now and sign someone to a 1 year deal to get to that 85% cap space needed with the new CBA, get some minutes to help Faried, Hamilton and Mozgov develop, see if Koufos is a capable backup big or just a scrub, look to trade Bird for any expirings.

could be a pretty crazy day tomorrow & saturday.

not really sure what direction i want this team to go. tough pill to swallow to pay nene 13+ million....but if chandler gets 15, then it sets the value pretty high and in order to sign any type of big talent (your own or other teams), it's gonna take a lot of money.

do we renounce our china guys and amnesty harrington and try to sign nene/aaa and another top FA? or keep all the rights to those guys and let nene walk if he's offered too much, and then wait a couple years when the punitive luxury tax kicks in and teams aren't overpaying because it will cost them too much.

and i don't really have an issue with getting nene & aaa back at reasonable prices, and then just playing. yea, we won't win a championship, and might never without hitting the lottery jackpot....but if last year was any sign, simply returning the guys we have and signing some other solid talent will be entertaining basketball to watch and we'll be in the playoffs and competitive in nearly every game of the season.

idk. we'll find out soon though.

if nene resigns in denver, high possibility josh howard will follow him

lawson/miller
afflalo/hamilton
gallinari/howard
nene/faried
mozgov/turiaf

i think this is good combination of young guys and veterans. we could make a big splash this year, with this lineup. also chandler might be leaving china so he could be re-signed or traded for a draft pick. plus we might also pick turiaf from the knicks if they do indeed sign chandler. i think this team could quietly turn into contenders. thoughts?

I hope the Turiaf rumors aren't true. Don't see how he's someone to get excited about or pushes the nuggets over the top.

Where's Kofous on your depth chart? Would rather see what he can do than Turiaf.

agree mozgov just needs to be a factor defensively. i think gallo is ready to breakout, only problem i see with lawson is that miller might take a few of his minutes and hinder his growth. but overall that team would be extremely deep, especially if we brought back chandler instead of howard.

Would Denver be willing to deal with NY? I know that just from a PR-Standpoint with what's happened in the last 36h its probably moot, but if we'd approached you guys before and suggested the following:

Chauncey + cond. 2rd Pick for TPE + cond. 2rd Pick

Chauncey get to go home and the Knicks get their Exception for a S&T with the Mavericks.
The picks could be top 119 protected or something like that just so the trade is allowed.

Turiaf & Balkman for Andre Miller

With Chauncey you wouldn't need Andre Miller and with Turiaf and Balkman you get some Hustle & Size

All in all Denver gets one of his own back plus 2 Players for 6M$ this year. Now if I'm not mistaken there is a higher cap floor under this CBA, so this might come in handy since you get proven commodities (nothing fancy but you know what you get in Chauncey &Balk and Turiaf can fulfill a need (think I even heard you guys were interested in him). In any case, the Knicks would shell over the 3M$ that's the allowed max if that helps cover the bill.

I'm not lying, for us this would be pretty sweet, we'd have a high BBIQ PG for one year to contend with our core and develop our young backcourt and I think Chauncey would be very grateful to play in Denver, he could be the mentor to Lawson and even start to step back into a backup-role starting from next year.

Why would Denver do that deal, they wanted Chauncey included in the deal because they did not want to pay him $14 million this year, they are not going to turn around now and take him back along with Balkman and Turiaf just to give the Knicks more cap room.

OK allright, way I heard it, NY wanted Chauncey back then. If Denver wanted to just unload him (didn't sound like that from his interviews after the trade and seems odd since they could have declined his option in the summer). Makes it that much more unrealistic I guess.

But it wouldn't be just to get the Knicks more Cap Room (Although that would be the goal for NY) but also to get to the Cap Floor without overpaying Scrubs while maintaining flexibility for the next free agency (assuming you guys are not planning to snatch someone right now) and to handle JR Smith and Wilson Chandler once the Season in China is over.

Way I see it right now it would be pretty hard to get any quality guys for one year deals, with this trade you would essentially get that and another 3M$ "rebate" on the Cap floor.

What were the Nuggets going to say, we wanted to dump a home town hero? There was a reason that Chauncey was included in the deal, the Nuggets did not want the pr fallout from cutting ahome town guy, and it was easier to include Chauncey in the Melo deal, with more hate going to Melo.

As for the cap floor, i doubt that is a problem considering the Nuggets are only about $15 million under it, and have to add 4 more guys at a minimum.

Fair enough, sounds like the Knicks need to look somewhere else, still funny tough that Denver needed to "unload" Chauncey when his contract would expire just 3 months after the trade, and it wasn't like they kept the mid20s PG they got. Isn't Andre Miller 35yrs as well?

Looking like Nene will be a Net in the near future...

Good to see he chose winning over money.
