Figures if he defected St. Louis he better goto a different league. I"m sure the DH thing played into his decision as well.

I don't know why the no-trade would be a deal-breaker. If he's getting paid $275 million for 10 years, where more than half of those years are past his prime, he should know his contract would be nearly impossible to trade, and have the salary act as the de facto no-trade clause in place of an actual one.

I think if he declined, but was still marginally useful in his mid-to-late 30's, having just a smidgeon of hope you could find a Moreno equivalent like our Wells deal, or offer up some prospects to turn him into the Yankee's DH, would be something you might value quite highly if contemplating signing Pujols to a 10-year deal.

edit: I'm not smart. Dealbreaker for Pujols. Well, I can see wanted that security since he can ask for it and find someone dumb enough to give it to him.

Angels give him a chance to win every year.... I don't buy the Marlins talk. I think their Gina's suck for years still. Plus who wants to wear those ugly uniforms. Albert doesn't wanna spend the rest of his prime promoting a failed beer logo on his hat.... he might as well go to Milwaukee

If he wasn't going back to STL then the Angels was a good team for him to play. Angels give him an equal opportunity to win, never believed in the Marlins.

I guess the allure of South Beach wasn't enough.
