Suns are sending Pietrus to the Raps for a second round pick, pending medical examination:

Nice move. The Suns weren't planning on using him since he hurt his knee over the summer anyway so this clears him off the books while netting a second rounder. If the Suns sign Brown and re-sign Hill there wouldnt have been any minutes for him anyway even if he was healthy.

Another good move by the Suns. Clearing cap space for next year. Niether VC nor Peitrus wanted to come to Phoenic in the trade last year. If we sign Grant we have 4 wings....Dudley, Brown, Childress, Hill. Lots of minutes for everyone.

He was an expiring, so we didn't clear any additional cap space.

I think(hope) they probably did this so they could maybe up their offer to Grant.

I do wish we got more than just a "conditional" second round pick.

This is the Suns we're talking about. Just be glad they didn't "give up" a pick in the trade...

The best part about this is that Mickael Pietrus garnered pretty much exactly what Amare did.

Let that sink in for a minute.

I like the trade a lot. I used to love Pietrus but he just seemed disinterested here the whole time. Glad to see the Suns are thinking about the draft, hopefully we can work a way to get another FIRST round pick also. I, sincerely, hope this isn't to up our offer to Grant Hill.

I love him and all but he shouldn't be resigned. Let him go. Start the rebuild in a year that has a stocked draft. No point in postponing the inevitable and remaining mediocre-bad just kills us. Fans lose interest, we don't get a draft pick that will jump start the rebuild, we don't have a roster that warrants free agents to sign here, and we don't make the playoffs ( or 1st round fodder to the Thunder/Lakers)

Clearing out some cap was actually important this year. With Brooks cap hold, we either had to give up on him, or get rid of Pietrus the way we did. If we stay under the cap, we can bid on guys that get amnestied.

Anyone think Nash can get BDavis here for $1.5 million?

Moving him to TO doesn't free up any money at all?

VC gone, for $4mil in salary this year, Pietrus gone at $5.3. I thought with VC gone we had about 5 mil to spend, and with MP's added on that would be about $10. i understand we don;t want any big, long-[term deals right now unless it were a windfall thing but surely with TO absorbing Mp into their cap-space we end up with some savings?

Now send Brooks to NY for Turiaf ($4mil expiring) and TDouglas.

We can't trade Brooks. He's still a FA.

He's a UFA and we can sign and trade him.
