Miguel Torres Cut from the UFC

Supposedly he just quoted Always Sunny which is put out by fox lol.

"This morning I’m on [Michael] Landsburg’s show, up here in Canada, and he hits me with the quote of what he tweeted," White explained. "Now there’s no explanation for that. There’s absolutely nothing I could say to make any sense of that. And the fact that he even thinks that’s funny or that’s a joke, it disturbs me. It bothers me. Again, you’re dealing with a guy that’s a smart guy, that owns his own business, that’s been one of the top fighters in the world forever. And I cut him today. He’s no longer with the UFC."

Contrast that to the silly excuses that he made for Forrest's rape joke and it doesn't make much sense.

It's a joke that refers to rape in a really explicit, ugly manner.

It was already made clear by the org precisely in the Forrest situation to watch yourself.

How? By Dana going around and justifying it? He said Forrest was misconstrued in the situation and that Forrest is really a good guy because he does charity work. :lol:

I don't mind setting strict rules against this type of thing. But I do think its weird that Rashad can joke about child molestation while on ufc business at the fox press conference, but Torres quotes a popular show on his personal twitter and gets cut.

I suspect Torres will apologize and get back in. That said, these guys (Torres, Forrest, Rashad) are morons for putting their livelihood at risk by posting obscene jokes on the freaking internet.

The problem is that Torres did it after the others. Forrest did it, and Dana told everyone to knock it off or else. Rashad did it, and got fined and Dana again told everyone to knock it off. And then Torres did it, and got the axe.

What kind of moron makes the 3rd rape joke after the first 2 caused escalating punishments? Not to mention Torres is not a draw. I think cutting him is somewhat extreme, but Torres put himself in this situation.

Again I have no issue with these guys being punished. None. I don't even like Miguel personally. I used to follow him on twitter and honestly he says a lot of distasteful things that imo are disrespectful to a lot of people personally. I do think the ufc is being inconsistent here though.

ALL these guys need to clean up their acts imo. Especially with the new spotlight for being on fox and whatnot.

There was no escalating punishment.

Dana interview with Helwani said Miguel would have been cut whether or not the Forrest/Rashad situations happened or not. Also said Rashad did not and would not receive any punishment for his child rape joke (neither did Forrest that I am aware of).

Have you even watched the episode? No one gets raped. Frank paints the windows of his vans black b/c he's paranoid and doesn't want to let anyone see in, and the gang calls it a rape van. Torres thought a line from the episode was funny, and posted in on his fb. Not sure how that makes him a bad person, or how that hurts society, or why that means he can't fight for the UFC anymore.

Lol this has more to do with Dana being embarrassed by Lansberg on OTR than it does Torres' tweet. He was made a fool on national TV in front of a mass audience.. Considering Torres' quote was a joke taken completely out of context from Always Sunny (still incredibly stupid on Miguel's part), what Rashad said was equally as offensive..

I would have been fine with a steep fine/suspension for both fighters, but to cut one guy and do nothing to another.. it makes no sense. Dana is an egomaniac, that's what this is about.

I'd rather the UFC take a "we are not responsible for everything our fighters say" approach with stuff like this. They have bonuses attached to Twitter for most followers, best posts, etc. The guy quoted a joke from a popular show on the UFC's new partner network, and now he's out of a job.

Shame to lose him from the division, especially a division starved for name guys.

He'll make a nice addition to Bellator I guess.

This is embarrassing for everyone involved. I don't think that's a fireable offense and Torres is a dolt for posting that so soon after the Forrest backlash. And the double standards! Massive conflicts of interest are allowed to fester in this business. Zuffa needs an experienced sports executive to establish a code of conduct for the fighters, and failing that, handle discipline. I thought Tom Wright might have been the guy, but evidently not. You can't have these sawed-off toughs cum "biznizz" men running around unchecked-- it's laughable. Get someone to speak to the press and wrangle fighters who can keep his emotions in check. **** first grade business 101 stuff right here. Can't they see that every other time Dana opens his mouth he ends up looking like a hypocrite who flies by the seat of his pants? It's run like a family business, like a **** Greek restaurant on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

WTF? That doesn't explain away the joke at all. It just shows the segway. No one suspected that the episode included an actual rape.

What about Torres's post of a few days prior, "your mouth says no, my roofies say yes"? That would be great for a locker room, real snicker material. Like when my bro Dakota pantsed the (Please Use More Appropriate Word) kid outside of Mr. McKay's class. Oh ****, does he know any boundaries?! LOL.
