which is why is was for the lockout and a hard cap to truely put a true parody and equality in the league so teams like the lakers cannot do what they have been doing for years and years and tried to do to NO and the next step was to also do that to orlando again.

in the current CBA which didn't do what was intended to have equality, doesn't and that new update to the CBA which allows teams over the salary cap to rework some of its contracts to allow for more flexability to sign or get more players. This also helps teams like LA and NYK again.

seriously hes the only one making all this dwight howard stuff up.

is he the only one with "inside sources" geeze.

either other reporters suck or hes making up lies left and right

This is the best possible thing that could have happened to Orlando. Now the pressure will be on Dwight to sign the extension in order to save face. Sources are already reporting that all this Howard demanding a trade a were false. If he really wants to iron things out, he will go to practice today and sign the extension tonight. Then as some have eluded to, the magic will try to shed salary and add d will this summer. Not sure how they will be penalized but maybe the magic will get a free draft pick out of this.

A number of agencies had separate sources I believe Sam Amick and Chris Mannix were others...

Great points, but he won't sign an extension now. He'll sign it in the summer. He makes more money doing so.

Orlando Magic All-Star center Dwight Howard met with Magic GM Otis Smith on Monday night and everyone wants to know what was said in the meeting. Today HOOPSWORLD has learned the gist of what was said.

First of all, forget Dwight signing a contract extension this season. The Magic could add Chris Paul, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant and Dwight would still not sign an extension, not because he doesn’t want to be in Orlando, but because under the new collective bargaining agreement it would be a horribly bad business decision.

The new CBA allows veteran players to extend their deal to a maximum of four years, meaning at no time can your extension push you past four guaranteed years. Dwight has two more years on his contract with the Magic, with an option coming this summer. As of today, Dwight can only sign a two-year extension with the Magic, as this season and next would count towards the four allowed. Next summer Dwight (and Chris Paul and Deron Williams) could opt out and sign a new contract for five years. BY waiting until July, Dwight can sign for two more years than he can sign for now.

So there will be no extension for Dwight.

That said, the league’s best center by far still very much wants to be in Orlando, and he is willing to give them every opportunity to keep him....

Figured we should all be aware of this. Regardless of what Dwight's decision will be going into the summer.

At the center of the proposed charges against the Nets (the Magic later said they wouldn't file charges against Houston) "is an alleged meeting between Dwight and Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov on Thursday. A source tells Broussard that Howard met with Prokhorov and Billy King in Miami on Thursday, and that the Magic were unaware of the meeting.

However, a "league source" tells Stefan Bondy the report is untrue. - @NYDNInterNets

Come on press, what is the deal? I want to know how we got the tampering info?

Did one of Dwight's people leak it?
Was there a mole in the midst and they reported back to Otis?
Did other teams who had interest in Howard have him watched? I'm not above believing that Cuban hired Joey Greco from cheaters to follow Howard around. They are in Dallas you know. :lol:

Dwight is denying now supposedly and will clear it up when he comes to camp, but NJ is saying nothing. Why no denial from them? Somebody lyin'.

I don't believe it and think its really far-fetched, but if Dwight and Otis worked together to make up the charges to help the Magic it is hands down the single most awesome conniving backhanded sneaky smart off-season ploy I have ever heard of in the NBA. That would just be crazy.

The only way Howard can clear it up is come into camp, look directly at the camera and say, "I'm not living the Magic and will sign a new contract after this season!" It will be crystal clear then. Of course I would have him sign something making sure he can't just change his mind.

Source now says Orlando has decided against pursuing tampering charges against Houston due to lack of information. NJ possibility remains.

The Rockets have been informed that there will be no tampering charges brought against them by Orlando & were told they weren't considered.

This is all I could find on it. Someone said a meeting took place, but ORL couldn't get the info so they dropped it i guess.
