Don't get your hopes up. He's not going to clear waivers.

That means some one will want to pay him 60+ million over the next 3 years? Doubtful. He will clear waivers easily. Hopefully he signs back with us for the VE.

We are still over cap and the harsh tax doesnt kick in for a couple years I dont think...
I thought we would give him this year to sink or swim, but I guess not.

The only hope is something big is in the works and we needed him off the books to not go way, way into tax. Or...D12 is gone and they dont want to pay tax for a team that wont make the playoffs..

Who knows...

We're at 44.9 mil now. We might be even lower because we might have to send Q Rich to Boston in this trade to equal out.

6.5 million a year is too much for a starting PF that is an upgrade?

Waiver wire teams can make contract offers on him for part of the salary, or did this change?

As obvious as it was to amnesty Arenas, I didn't think we would do it. I'm glad. Best of luck, Gil.

so gils a goner? he could resign to a more reasonable contract right?

I dont think much teams would want him.

Otis "father figure" smith might be the only one to throw 5-6 mil at him

as far as I know, its a bidding process, and whatever portion he gets on his new contract is taken off of the amnestied one...

if no one else wants him and he signs for vet min on a contender like bulls, we still pay gil virtually his full amount. Even if he were to clear waivers, I'm not sure if rules allow waiving team to resign a player once he's cleared.

Now I'm confused about amnesty. I was under the impression that a player on waivers would 1st go through a round of waivers where teams were allowed to take on his existing contact. If no one did, they would then get into a bidding war. Are we thinking Arenas and Otis had a deal for him to come back and sign for like a million? I don't see how that can be legal.

If we are under the cap, then does that mean we can sign amnestied players?
