Marcus Thornton

Post#1 » by kevin44 » Fri Dec 9, 2011 6:39 pm

I keep reading we are going to sign him & he is our number one priority. Unless I am missing something I still haven't seen any contract offered. Have they even offered him a deal yet? Today a lot of deals are going down, so I hope the Kings are ready to sign some players. I am not sure what Marcus is worth, but if they don't make him an offer another team will.

the offical period doesn't start for another 15 min I believe? 2 est/11 pst. I expect to have him before training camp starts tomorrow for the Kings, lets hope I'm right. To answer your question I have yet to see anything that says the Kings have offered him a deal.

Thats $8 million per year plus if Hayes gets his $5 million per year we have another $4 or $5 million we HAVE to spend to reach league minimum.

Our roster is pretty full after we sign rookies I wonder if a trade is in the works or what.

5/35 is what I got. But this is good enough. : )

If he continues to improve, this may be a steal.

If he plays like he did last year, then this is a great deal. It makes me a little nervous that his success has been such a short period of time. Glad he's staying Sac though.

If it's front loaded and/or decreasing I'd feel better about it. We have cap space to burn now, and not too many FA's left that I'm interested in. I was hoping for $35m over 5 years, but that's only a difference of $1m per year and we're running out of roster spots to fill the min payroll.

Hey Celtic fan here.. Was really hoping Thornton would walk away & come sign in boston lol. Nah just a big fan of him & the deal was good for you guys. Solid offseason so far. The kings are becoming my favorite team in the west and i'm looking forward to see them in the playoffs. What's the rotation gonna look like?

Evans/Jimmer
Thornton/
Salmons/Garcia
Hickson/Thompson
Cousins/Hayes

9 Solid man rotation with some nice prospects at the end of the bench? Very interesting. Just showing some respect for Sac-Town.

Yah I think thats what the starting lineup will look like unless a trade goes down. I think eventually they want Jimmer to take over the starting pg spot, and you can add Whiteside in there too. He will be blocking some shots this year. I'm actually very excited about Whiteside.

Appreciate it man, looks like we are gaining more and more fans this season. That rotation looks about right to me. Wouldn't be surprised if Hayes starts at PF next to Cousins though. You're guess is as good as mine.

And yeah I was thinking 5/35 too, so Thornton is getting a bit more than expected but whatever I'm just glad he is here, he's a baller for sure. If Whiteside is going to be playing this year seems like we will eventually have to trade either Hickson or Thompson.

Little more than I thought it would take, but we all now know the Maloofs are indeed willing to pay and Geoff has always been the guy who gave Mikki moor the MLE, hahaha.

So y'all will go with a 3 man rotation of Evans/Thornton/Jimmer?

You guys have interesting and talented pieces. I'm not sure how they'll fit though, but I'm intrigued by the team. Good luck this season!

And I think that he was a tad overpaid, since he's still kinda unproven, but not enough to really make you really cringe (about $6M too much over the course of the entire deal) or become a problem. Hell, if he improves he could be a steal.

The Real GM is showing Marcus Thornton has signed a five-year, $40 & Chuck Hayes to a four-year, $21.3 million deal.

Sweet. I figured the signing of Thornton would be inevitable, but still - it's great having some reinsurance! Awesome deal... I don't even care if he was a bit over-payed, it's well worth it, IMO. :D
