Maybe Bierins is gonna be the backup center. I for one would take his contract if we could get Ellis.

Because he won't get more than MLE from most teams IMO or he can get a little more (8 or so million a year) from bad teams.

Man, I wish one of us knew someone who is working closely to Otis Smith.. I can't take the pressure anymore... I know who's doing something for a trade, BUT WHAT!?! *pulls hair*

we need a guy to play 10-12 minutes a game... from all reports, orton is healthy. magic fans say hello to your back up center...DANIEL ORTON
Davis will help in that department. REALLY hope we can keep earl, but he'd need to be signed soon before we go over the cap right?

It's just talk. I think there's a better chance of monta ellis than Iggy.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part III)
So if we're under the cap, we can now offer the full MLE, correct? And how about that Gortat Traded Player Exemption for $6.3 million which expires in about a week? We should be able to sign a full MLE player AND be able to trade for someone worth a bit more than the MLE (i.e. someone like Jamal Crawford).

I used to BS with him at Subway when I worked next to the RDV. No longer there though.

All right guys, I'll be back later this evening. Keep the thread going. Post anything and everything in here regarding NBA and Magic news. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for great news! Go Magic!

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part III)
TPE for a backup center is a good option. Would be happy if Otis could pull of Turiaf.

Which TPE do we still have? They expire after 1 calendar year.

Yes I keep forgetting about the TPE we have. Won't happen though until Otis gets the big fish he wants.

I thought they were extended under new CBA because of the lockout. I have no idea. If they expired and Otis still used it for Turiaf I'd be even more impressed.

We have two actually. A little one from the Lewis/Arenas trade and a big one from the Suns trade.

Maybe we could use the Gortat TPE for Nocioni to sweeten the deal for the 76ers in getting Iggy?
