They gave him more money than he deserves in exchange for a 2 year deal I'm guessing.

we had the money laying around from waiving Nate anyway. The deal also doesn't affect any future player re-signings. Presti did a great job again.

If Nate was just waived the $$$ still counts against the cap. I haven't heard that Nate was bought out though maybe Presti and co. expect that, in which case there will be $$$ left over.

Conflicting reports now, some say $6.5M which would be much nicer.

came here to post that. It is a bit nicer, 1 million over two years is irrelevant in the long run though.

Only useful if we're signing someone else.

Seemed updates show it's 6.5m. Solid deal either way since only 2 year.

$6.5M is better. $3M/y was my ceiling for Cook.

They just gave him another additional year and 100k+ more as security for his finances i guess.

How much does that leaves us in cap space before any decision on Nate?

We're at 54 million dollars as a team right now. I don't know what the soft or hard cap is, but I assume that we're a little under for now.

That is including nate's contract at 4.5 million. If we buy out his contract I'm not sure if it counts against our cap hold or not.

Assuming last year value of 58m, we're probably around 4m under the cap.
If we buyout nate contract, the amount of the buyout is what will count against our salary total. Say if we buy him out for 3m, we would then have 4m in cap + additional 1.5m (from Nate.)= 5.5m
