The Los Angeles Clippers today signed their two second round selections in the 2011 NBA Draft, Trey Thompkins (37th overall) and Travis Leslie (47th overall), teammates from the University of Georgia.
A versatile big man with a soft shooting touch, Thompkins, 21, averaged 16.4 points per game and 7.6 rebounds during his junior season. Thompkins was named a First-Team All-SEC selection by the league’s coaches and Second Team by the media. The 6-foot-10 inch, 245 pound Thompson led the Bulldogs with 50 blocks last season, the most by a Georgia player in 15 years.
As a freshman in 2008-09, Thompkins was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team after a stellar high school career at Wesleyan High in Norcross, Georgia.
During his three-year collegiate career, Thompkins appeared in 89 total games and averaged 15.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. During his junior season, Thompkins shot 31.1 percent from 3-point range, going 23-for-74.
Thompkins becomes the second Norcross, Georgia product on the Clippers roster, joining the Clippers 2010 first round draft pick Al-Farouq Aminu.
The 6-foot-4 Leslie, an athletic guard with explosive leaping ability, was named Second Team All-SEC following a successful junior season that saw him average 14.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. During the 2010-11 season, Leslie ranked second in the SEC in offensive rebounding average (3.2).
In his three-year career at Georgia (2008-11), Leslie averaged 12.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 90 games.

I don't know how much they'll be able to contribute. I hope that we won't really need them aside from garbage time. With the intensity of the schedule, we may need some fresh legs or healthy bodies at some point or another. I think that Leslie might be more ready, but there could be a greater need for Thompkins to be able to produce due to front court depth behind our starters.

It looks like all rookies that were drafting are being signed, so I assumed we would get it done at some point. I'm sure we won't need Thompkins or Leslie for more then mop up time.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I like both of these guy, Thompkins could br very useful in a stretch 4 role especially if the cap gets tight with trades.
