Around the league/Other Teams and players Thread

Post#1 » by Calinks » Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:34 pm

Oden out for another season, crazy and now LMA may have heart issues. I swear the Blazers medical staff has never heard of research. Then you got guys just flat out breaking over there. Oden keeps breaking, Roy is done, Martel's back is all kinds of jacked up. If I was an insurance company, every time I saw my player got drafted or traded to the Blazers, I'd raise that premium like a motha trucka.

Clearly their Zero-G strength training and cyanide pill health supplements are not working. I think it's time for the GM to make a trade that will bring over some books on health and nutrition that have been written within this last century.

I feel really bad for Portland. Hopefully LMA isn't affected too much.

I just can't feel bad for Portland. I still remember the days of "dynasty" and "Roy for Foye ROFL".

But they really have fallen, and I don't envy them if they've lost Aldridge. He was the only thing keeping them afloat.

Ditto. And they would completely reject the idea of trading any of their deep bench to help them win now, because it was going to be so valuable (Sergio, Rudy, etc). And lately, how Love was such a pale comparison to Lamarcus Aldridge, it was laughable.

This is a lesson that the Wolves need to keep in mind. In 2008, the team had enough trade value to actually contend for a ring if they would have made a few trades. However, they believed they could just sit back, and everyone would grow together, no one would get hurt, and they'd have mutliple championships for several years. The thing is, if you have a shot at a ring, you got to take it. Nothing is guaranteed in the future in the NBA. Let's see what happens to OKC and LAC - two teams I think would refuse to make a big step.

Good points shrink. There is something to be said for letting a team grow together but a good GM knows when to make the right decisions for his team. At some point Kahn will be faced with some tough decisions concerning contracts, trades, etc. Hopefully he will follow the right formula.

now that donatas is staying in europe, i'm really genuinely pissed off we didn't keep him and send him over ourselves...i had watched plenty of him over the last couple of years and new he was insanely talented...he's killing it over there and even starting to play defense and rebound having games of 20+ and 18 boards recently. :x

While it's nice that there's one less division rival to be concerned about in the future, I think it's not fair considering how Portland had to leave the race. I wish it didn't happen due to injuries. While it's part of the game to suffer from injuries, this is just too much.

It's a good point you make. I don't think we're on the same level yet as the Blazers yet but still something to keep in mind.

I catch myself having a Blazers mentality about this team. When people were discussing Rubio for Rondo scenarios (I dunno how practical they were) I knew if we could swing it, it would make a ton of sense and make us better, but I was also like "dear god don't let it happen, I want to see this team grow."

I'd almost feel pissed if we traded some of our potential, up and coming guys for veterans. It would be irrational but it would bother me.

I think we're still not on the same level as those Blazers team who if healthy would have 3-4 studs with great trade value and great future potential, but it's something we need to be mindful of going forwards.

Can't say how many times I've said Roy and Oden were both done.

This actually makes me a sad panda. I thought Roy and Oden would be the future of Team USA.

ChrisMannixSI Chris Mannix
Executive from a team inquiring about Rip Hamilton has been told Rip was focused on Chicago. "It's a lock," exec says.

Could be a better sign Crawford comes here. Only other teams I think we'll have to compete with is the Nets & Pacers.

Too expensive for what he's going to bring. I'd much rather pursue a trade for a SG.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Possibly. Probably wants 4 years/28-32 mil. If he wants more than that, good luck.

Other SG options to target:

Andre Iguodala
Kevin Martin
Raja Bell
Rodney Stuckey
Arron Afflalo
O.J. Mayo
Trevor Ariza
Anthony Morrow
Anthony Parker
Jason Richardson
Michael Redd
J.R. Smith
DeShawn Stevenson
Leandro Barbosa

Paul George apparently grew 10 inches in the offseason and is now 6'10"!!

Kendrick Perkins dropped 32 pounds and now looks like an alien version of himself (OKC is going to win the west hands down this year).

Wasn't Paul George 6'7''-6'8'' when he was drafted?
