my bad confused his 2010 numbers with 2009, either way figured there would be more logic in him trying to do better than his splits with Arizona and here last year while looking for a big pay day. Clearly there was nobody willing to give him that... I will happily take him playing out of his mind in a contract year.

uh oh...seems Johnson had no idea about this LF talk..

http://www.drunkjaysfans.com/2011/12/kelly-johnson-im-not-willing-to-change.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DrunkJaysFans+%28DrunkJaysFans%29

Johnson was asked about the potential of seeing time in left field next year, and if he was "open to change positions, if need be." His response...

"Uh... no, I'm not. But that's not anything that's been talked about to me. I'm signed to play second and be at second, so I'm not concerned and not thinking about that too much."

When asked if that was all news to him, Johnson replied, "Oh, yeah. Yeah."

I'm not worried that we'll acquire a second 2B who would be able to supplement him before acquiring a first 1B. Thames isn't good, but I don't understand the KJ to LF talk.

The KJ to LF talk sounded like BS to get Johnson to decline arbitration. There is no world in which putting him there makes any sense. It seem it didn't work, though...he's staying whether AA likes it or not.

Good news for the team, bad news for Rogers, who likely wanted to save some $$ at 2B too.

$6M for a good 2B is quite pricey after all.

I heard a clip on the radio were KJ sounded un supportive of AA's talks of him being flexible in the line up. Between that and kj accepting arb and not extending i sure hope he's not going to be a malcontent this year. That siad i dont see why we'd move him from 2b.

He can't afford to be a malcontent in his contract year...and he doesn't seem stupid.

And the idea of him in LF was absurd to begin with. We have 4 OF's who ideally all need starting playing time, and our only 2B option is Vallubuena.

They really have 5 major league OFs on the roster, when you include Davis who has a guaranteed contract next season. So yeah, KJ is never going to be playing LF for this team.

This is true, seeing as he didnt re up its in his own best interest to play big and get paid big next off season. But an un happy player isnt allways taking their own best interest into consideration. Here is hoping tho. And i agree, him in LF seems daft at best. Unless some trade has been getting tossed around in the jays brain trust that would come down and leave us with a much better sb.
Still we need to stick it out with snider and see if he can get his groove back and turn into the Major leaguer every one thinks he can be.

Kelly at second is like Bargs at centre.

Turn out the lights and pack up - they quit.

Agreed. About as bad as it gets, really.

That is the worst comparison ever made on this board actually.....

Agreed.

Did Bargs get on base almost as much as Escobar? (.005 less)
Did Bargs have a higher slugging percentage than Escobar? (.004 more)
Did Bargs finish with a positive UZR/150? (3.1 UZR/150)

Its probably the least intelligent thing posted on either board. Why is Kelly Johnson perceived so bad? He had a relatively good season at a position where offense isn't the most common and he can defend a bit too.

Bargnani has shown countless times that he is a 1 dimensional player, uninterested in rebounding or defense.

I had to log in simply to agree with how poor this comparison is.
