Is This It For Spoelstra?

Post#1 » by HEATVols865 » Sat Dec 10, 2011 4:22 pm

OK let me get it out there, I am NOT a Spoelstra fan...Sporon sucks, but I know he's got the backing from Riley (must have some pictures of Riley with some college girls or something haha)

But, last year it was the first year of the Medium 3 together and they were still trying to find an identity. Though the finals were the biggest choke job in NBA history, I think Arison gave the team and coaches a pass as the team had holes and a VERY weak bench.

This year, the bench is stronger: Udonis, Battier, Miller being the key guys off the bench.

The Medium 3 know that what they did last year did not work. On interviews they all talk about how they need to play better as a team, put criticism aside and attack and give their all.

Chalmers in my opinion has grown a lot in the finals...yes he's prone to bonehead decisions BUT during the finals when the others were choking, he grew the biggest pair and almost put us back in it on Game 6.

The Center position is the black hole of the team BUT this team is built very much like the Chicago Bulls teams that won back to back to back.

The first 3 titles the Bulls won, they had a core of MJ/Pippen/Grant with a PG duo of Paxson/Armstrong and C duo of Cartwright/Perdue.
Neither Perdue or Cartwright were rebound monsters and BJ and Paxson were not assist monsters but could hit 3 pointers...
Then you add Battier, Miller and Udonis...they are much better bench players than that Bulls team had.
NO I'm not saying that Wade/James/Bosh are better than MJ/Pipper/Grant but the teams are build very similarly.
I think the construction of this team is a blend of the two 3-peat Bulls teams...we have a similar core to the 1990-1993 Bulls but with a very good bench like the 1993-1996 Bulls.

So what I'm trying to say is: we do not need Joel/Pittman/Curry to be monsters...we need those 3 guys to give us about 12 rebounds and 8-12 points per game and 1.5 blocks per game. That's it.
As for the PG position, if we somehow land Billups, we're set but if not, we need Mario and Cole, mainly Mario, to give us about 10pts per game, 6 assists and 2 steals per game.
That's what we need from the Point Guard and Center positions

So back to Spoelstra...he has the players and the tools to get this done. You may say the competition is tougher now, but look what the NBA was back then as well.
The NBA is getting back to what it used to be, powerful teams with multiple key pieces and different game plans. It's up to Spoelstra to understand each team and prepare our guys to get the job done. He needs to involve Bosh more and allow him to score 18ppg and grab like 10rpg and let Wade and James score at will with average of at least 25ppg;
It's on Spoelstra. He's the man that needs to figure it out and make this work and sell his players into a game plan. Not the players. It comes from the top down.

It's now or never for Spoelstra. The hole his roster has, were challenges faced by many other teams that won titles before so that's not an excuse.
Riley knows it. He's locking in the current pieces for at least 3 years, if not longer, and if Spoelstra doesn't get it done, he is done.
Let's look at the past, learn from what worked and play ball.

I do have to agree. I think if they don't win this year, he will be fired.

They realized they were just 2 games away last season from a title. If they lost in the 1st round last season he would have been fired lol....

Miller isn't going to play for another ... 2 months...

I havent like Spoelstra since they drafted Beasley but he has become too predictable specially his stubborness to stick with his set lineups. I think Riley should come back or hired an experience coach who can motivate people because right now it is looking ugly for us. Things are happening right now such as the Knicks completing a balance lineup and Dallas looking to get Dwight/Lakers having both Paul/Dwight/Kobe. Lets Go Heat!!!

Those between games speeches in the playoffs has me shell shocked.....

If I don't have anything positive to say about this guy, i'll say nothing. He has all the tools, he either does not know how to adjust from game to game with same opponent, or he is not being allowed to modify the current system.

He gets a pass from me this year.......all he as to do, is go outside of the script sometimes....

Can we make this the official fire Spoelstra thread or is it still too early?

His speeches annoy me. If I were on a basketball team I'd like to hear what is wrong not "ITS A GRIND".

So a team going up by 15 points in the last 4 minutes, and you say "TRUST THE SYSTEM". How about you draw up a play or something, not expecting the stars to bail you out.

I'm ready to mute the TV everytime I see Spo... sigh.

edit: Vertical too early lol

If we can`t win this year we should definitely fire him. I have nothing against him, but to lose with a team like this after a year of gelling is unacceptable.

I think if we won in year 1, Spo would've gotten more credit.

If we win this year, it'll be neutral and almost all credit will go to the players.

If we don't win this year, he's gone.

Its harsh, but that's what happens when you're handed this much talent.

Yes, this is it.

No championship, no Spoelstra (On the sidelines) for the 2011-2012 season. There's too much talent on this team to not win it all. The only excuse he has is if one of the Big 3 gets injured.

They don't actually mic you up while plays are being drawn up

Maybe after he learned from some creative and intelligent coaches he won't be afraid to actually creatively gameplan

We could lose it all again, and he'd still be here next year. I just hope his "decision making" is less robotic this go 'round.

honestly, if we lose this year i expect spoel to be fired and one of the big 3 to be gone, sad but harsh truth.

Oh great, was missing a thread like this. Nice of our resident Trixie to start it up again. Looking forward to the season even more .. hopefully all the vitriol that is sure to follow once the games start, is confined to this thread.
