He'll always be injury-prone, but you also gotta admit he's the 2nd best C in the league WHEN HEALTHY

It's not just about how good he is when healthy, it's can he stay healthy?

Past performance being the best indicator of future performance, it seems to be more likely he is going to suffer some injury and miss a significant number of games than not. This is the only reason I prefer a deal that ultimately nets Lopez over Bynum - Lopez is proven to be able to handle the grind of an NBA season. Bynum has proven that he can't, so far at least, plus while only a year older than Lopez, he has 3 more seasons of wear on his body.

People keep bashing Lopez, but 20/8 is nothing to sneeze at. Yes, he needs work to evolve more as a defensive player, but he's only 23.

Of course not, but we'd still have lots of players we could trade & sign .. JJ&Jameer can still get you something

And if they both walk, we'd have lots of capspace

I went to bed and S*** goes crazy. So let me see if I got everything that has happened:

Lakers pull out of cp3 trade
Odom is being shipped to Dallas for the tpe
Bynum/Gasol coming to Orlando for Howard

Am I missing anything?

With all due respect, how would trading for both Bynum and CP3 and then letting them walk be significantly better than just playing out Howard's contract and letting him walk?

That.

Low risk, high reward.

And honestly, if they go deep in the PO's, I can see him staying.

Hedo would be off the books .. But who says they'll both walk? I doubt Bynum would walk & this would be a better team than the Hornets' current team so who knows if CP won't re-sign here?

He can't go to NY or LAL, and if Bynum would turn out to be able to play a full season at a decent level, i'd say he would really think about re-signing

honestly im warming up to Bynum he looks like hes in great shape he is not dwight but he can be a 20.10 guy

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Don't fall for the Lakers Jedi mind tricks. Speaking as a Milwaukee fan, we had Kareem talk his way out of town to LA and I watched you guys lose Shaq in his prime. You never make up for the loss of a guy like Dwight.

Take Bynum out of LA and he turns into a 16 million a year Greg Oden.

If we can get Gasol and Bynum and some picks for D12, then I would suggest we go after CP3 using Bynum. Most people are suggesting moving Gasol for Paul, but I think we should swap Bynum instead. Bynum is a risk, but Gasol is not. Plus, we would have to take Okafor's contract anyway, so why not get CP3 and Okafor for Bynum and Jameer. We would have CP3, JJ, Jrich, Gasol, and Okafor or maybe even get Ariza for JJ. Use Ariza for SF spot. His defense would really help and give us size. We can give them the rights to Fran lol. We can sign Clark and have him for a backup SF. That would give us:

CP3/Larry Hughes/Pruitt
Jrich/Wafer/Liggins
Ariza/Clark/Harper
Gasol/BBD/Harper
Okafor/BBD/Orton

Not to mention we would still have the Gortat TPE to use.

That line up to me would most likely be able to get CP3 to sign and keep us competitive. It is worth something to look at anyway.

So sorry if this was brought up already but if the rumored trade of us getting Paul and Bynum goes down, what will our cap situation be in the summer? To me Dwight still has no idea what he wants. What if we do the trade and he goes to la and doesn't like it. Now we decline bynums option make a trade of jameer (already have Paul) and try and sign Dwight in the summer. We would have Paul who he wanted. Just thought but I know its just wishful thinking.

It's not that Bynum is bad it's that he is ALWAYS injured. Last four seasons he has missed 47, 32, 17, and 28 games due to injury.

team has no identity.

Issue w/Gasol is hes 32 and i question his fire especially if hes not in LA...

if we could just get Ariza, a Ariza/Gasol/Bynum frontcourt matches up well with Chicago/Miami/NY

I'd say no to Bynum. Honestly there are only 2 good trades out there for Dwight.

Clippers: Gordon, Aminu, Bledso, Jordan, Min pick, Clippers pick for Howard, Turk, and Nelson
Bulls: Noah, Deng, Gibson, Brewer, Bobcats pick, Chicago pick for Howard and Turk

I doubt the Clippers give up that much, but you should damn sure try to get them to

I still can't piece together the real reason why Otis would come out and say that Dwight demanded a trade, did something happen in that meeting?

I mean, this is a guy who wouldn't even reveal that we were going after Duhon and Q last season! Or even BBD and Wafer this season. He's notoriously secretive, so this makes absolutely no sense......Unless this is part of he and Dwight's plan to make the Lakers ante up. And judging by them dropping out of their Chris Paul trade, it worked.....

I wonder if they got into an argument or something?

Just woke up to this... Why would the NBA approve a trade of Paul for Gasol? He's older... Didn't stern say they wanted to get younger/picks?
