It would be pretty hard to pass up a Bynum and Gasol for Dwight and Hedo offer. But I'd like to see what we could get from the Bulls.

Lets be realistic here, the majority of Otis' moves haven't worked out. But ok, what is done is done.

I really don't post alot but I follow the forums very regularly. What I don't understand is this: For years, the majority ouf our fanbase has been critical of Otis and his moves. Now that Howard comes out and says what the majority of us is/has been thinking for years, he is the bad guy? Doesn't make any sense to me.

There is absolutely NO reason to talk to the Lakers ATM, Trade deadline is 3 months away.. Appease Dwight and see where the season goes. YOU DON'T TRADE THE BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE!!

Continue with Dwight, try to get Ellis, smith, AK, re-sign Clark, do anything you can to convince him to stay. If things aren't looking good before the trade deadline, go for either lac, chi, or lal as trade partners. Make sure to get rid of Hedo and make sure a third team is involved to flip Gasol to if you end up dealing with the Lakers.

I agreed with everything they said... Otis needs to explain himself, and he needs to keep Dwight happy.. and so far, he hasn't done that... Magic FO can't rely on Dwight being loyal to the city and dealing with mediocre crap surrounding him on the court until he's 30 years old... he can't do that... Magic FO needs to take care of Dwight and get him help... and stop following the Cleveland Cavalier's playbook... some of these contracts and trades are questionable and unexplainable... Otis needs to explain himself and rethink what he's doing... they are right in saying that... DO SOMETHING, MAKE DWIGHT HAPPY... QUIT COASTING OFF OF DWIGHT'S LOVE FOR THE CITY AND HELP HIM

I love you as a poster man but I have to dis-agree with you on this one.

The FO has bent over backwards to appease Dwight. We are a small market team spending like a big market team. Obviously some of the moves haven't worked out in our favor but for Dwight to act like the FO hasn't made an effort to keep him happy is insulting to my intelligence.

It's a cop out and he is playing the fans for stupid.

Here's the deal. Orlando got players for Dwight, but they aren't the players he need.

Vince Carter: old and mentally fragile, Rashard Lewis: not worth 120 mill (could have had Gerald Wallace for 60mil cheaper, or signed Lewis to 80mil), traded CLee... gave Duhon and Q-Rich terrible contracts... got rid of Gortat ... trade back for Hedo.... then he traded for Arenas (lol)... come on man, tell me one person Otis brought in that has significantly and consistently helped Dwight on the court? Look at Boston, LA, Miami, San Antonio (younger), Memphis, OKC... they all have 2-3 star guys that can take the pressure off one another

I mean some of these moves and deals are just mind boggling... it's not the quantity of the players Otis has acquired and traded to appease Dwight that matters, that's just stupid to think that way... it's the QUALITY... these players are just not that good... I'm sorry... and on top of that, Otis OVER SPENT on these mediocre players... come on man... look at our situation... we can't do anything now, no expiring contract to significantly get us under the cap, no way to sign D-Will or CP3 in the summer... we're locked up with bloated contracts... and who's fault is that? what help has FO really given?! it's one thing to say the FO made an effort to keep Dwight happy... but it's another thing when all that FO effort does NOT equate to it being GOOD ENOUGH... sorry, but FO failed imo... terrible players, terrible deals, I don't blame Dwight for being frustrated

Btw, it's straight man, i enjoy your posts as well :D

If Dwight wants Otis gone (which Rudolph says he doesn't) you let him go now. If not, as much as I dislike Otis, it is not the time to let go of a GM.

Quality bigs are hard to come by. All-Star level bigs are rare. Bynum and Gasol are at the All-Star level and although not as good as Dwight, by getting 2 for 1 we can move them in different directions to get alot more assets.

The only part that sucks is the fact that it is the Lakers.

Quoted for truth. Hall of Famers do not grow on trees. I want to see a D12 jersey hanging from the rafters in the future.

I think there are two ideologies going on here

1) Otis supporters saying FO has done enough for Dwight and bent backwards (the quantity of players, all the money spent, all the talent acquire to appease Dwight and make him happy... this should all be good enough)

2) Otis detractors saying FO has failed Dwight (due to bad deals, contracts, player signings, trades, mediocre players, no star players, in luxury tax/no salary cap, mind boggling transactions)

It's basically a quantity vs quality argument

I'm arguing in favor of quality...

Talent wise Bynum/Gasol can't be beat, it doesn't mean its your best trade. You will have little use of Gasol, and he is more valuable if you can flip him to a 3rd team. It kinda depends what that 3rd team is giving up before you can say its your best trade.

The Bulls can offer you any combo of the following:

Noah, Taj, Asik, Mirotic, Charolotte 1st, Cap relief (expiring contracts), Deng (if you really wanted him, or you could flip him).

I don't think there are many teams that can beat that. Realistically only the Gasol/Bynum or EG/Minny pick from the Clips.

I don't see the Lakers doing Gasol/Bynum, but since they pulled out of CP3 anything is possible. I'm not sure if we'd rather get both those guys or set up a 3rd team and try to get picks out of it. Otis seems to be stocking up for a run regardless of Dwight, so I have to side with trying to get Gasol and Bynum and trying to win with them. Miami still has no depth at center.

The ONLY reason he is asking to be traded is to get his money.. I say let the season ride out and call his bluff.. I think he wants to win but not that bad to lose that much money..

Initial trade would look like
LA out Bynum, Gasol, Ebanks, 2012 Dal and LA 1st = 34,602,221
Orlando out D12, Turk, Duhon, Anderson = 34,403,022

Why for LA- They pay a huge price, but D12 is the one player in the NBA head and shoulders above the rest at his position. LA is also able to give that much and still build a champion. Anderson is a nice player that can fill in nicely and spread the floor for D12 and Kobe.

Why for Orl- You get Bynum and Gasol who can either keep you in the hunt or be sent to additional team in the trade for more picks and Cap room (look at the price Houston was willing to pay). 2 First rounders are late picks, but in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. Most of all you eleminate the last of your negative value contracts in Duhon and Turk. People wont want to give up Anderson but we have BBD, Harper, and Clark probably coming back. Without Anderson I dont think LA adds the picks.

More teams can get into it and save us money and gain picks. Maybe Include Rokets, but send Scola to Indiana type deal.

If Dwight wants Stan gone if that's what it takes you do it...although 4 straight 50 win seasons is nothing to sneeze at...that being said Dwight is the main reason we got all those wins...I don't hate SVG i think he's a good coach but i don't like some of the things he does....Has tendency to panic and second guess...His system is predictable and not fresh at least to me....I don't know man it seems to me like Dwight have been hinting at this for a while now and it might be coming to a head now....

It has been stated that Dwight has changed his mind so many times in the past week and it could change again....i don't want the reason we lose Dwight to be Stan Van Gundy...But i think it's on Dwight on this one..All he really has to do is tell Otis straight up to Fire him but Dwight keeps playing the Vague role

Would this be a good deal?

http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/5945259

The Nets need to win now, otherwise Deron wont stay. They can ammnesty Outlaw and get a Center.

The Magic picks and Graham and Gaines are non-guaranteed.

Lakers get their man.

Yup, pooor management. Dwight wanting out, comments he made, and the fact we still don't have even a mid-level star says a lot...

I am definitely feeling like I'm about to say something really, really stupid (but hey, this is RealGM, so what the heck)...

I have the mind of a 7 year old and therefore am easily impressed by gimmicks... so it is therefore that I would be more than pleased if someone figured out a way to get the dirty ole Griz involved in a deal with the Lakers and bring in both Gasols for Howard. Does Memphis even want any part of Bynum? And isn't Marc in his qualifying offer year?

I agree that the type of player we needed we didn't get. Not that we didn't try to get, but we failed to get. Otis thought Vince was that guy, as did many on this board and in the media. We were all wrong. But it's not over. The Magic still have a chance to do that, we'll see. I'm actually over Dwight, and am waiting for the next step. I say Pau and Gasol is the best we can get. We can't afford to rebuild. I say reload.
