Chandler, Shumpert, are both defensive players.

I'd take Crawford on the Knicks strictly in the Jason Terry/6-Man SG role. The scoring off the bench is pretty weak. But, the Knicks could likely get Nate Robinson for the Vet Min without giving up any assets if they want to improve the bench scoring punch.

I don't trust Crawford as the starting PG, from a defensive standpoint or ball-distributing standpoint. I wouldn't trust Barea, who I like, as a starting PG either because of his height and defense. It has to be either Crawford or Barea, because if the Knicks acquired both, Shumpert wouldn't get any playing time, and he's going to be really critical, imo, along with Chandler, in changing the defensive culture of the Knicks. Douglas as well. I don't like trading defensive away for offense. It seems like an Isiah Thomas type strategy. I don't want Amar'e & Tyson getting into foul trouble because the backcourt keeps letting their man get to the basket.

Sidenote: I will shoot someone in the face if NY trades Shumpert for Crawford. In fact, I'd be upset if NY trades any defensive player for Crawford. Maybe, I'd be okay with a Crawford/Balkman swap, but that's only because I don't think D'Antoni will give Renaldo any real PT.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...

YOu guys do realize that we only have 2 guys that average double figures right? The rest of our rotation is: Chandler, TD, Fields, Walker, Shumpert, Jeffries and maybe Bibby. Who exactly do you have confidence can start scoring 15 ppg from that bunch? Getting a 3rd scorer and depth is a necessity. We need Crawford here.

On the other hand, would Jamal at $5 million be a decent trade assets to the Hornets in March or in the summer?

I love how all of a sudden Douglas is such a must keep when everyone in the universe wanted him gone after the playoffs. The Knicks have NO Sixth Man. Every contending team in the NBA has a sixth man. Dallas, Miami, Chicago, Atlanta, etc.

Crawford is the top Sixth man in the NBA. It is a no brainer.

The Knicks are not allowed to trade Shumpert or Jeffries for that matter right now. They already signed, meaning it will be a while until players on new contracts are allowed to be traded. Everyone worrying about trading Shumpert needs to chill the eff out.

ugh. yeah that's the the truth, we need him.

but dammit, we do not need his "defense"

edit: or his shot selection which i can completely imagine melo and amar'e being frustrated with.

Oh yeah, who are we going to look to for points outside of Melo and Amare? Even if we expect them both to put up 25 a night? Chandler isn't that type of guy...

Fields? TD? Iman? Jefferies?

This team's to thin to complain about a guy that sometimes chucks the ball.. He'd clearly be a offensive threat that this team needs and would be a big boost that is still very much needed.

Great point.

Is that why we were routinely scoring 110 per game with guys like Anthony Carter and Roger Mason playing in games? Please stop. Scoring is the last thing we need. What was the Celtics bench like during their runs? Who was their 6th man? Eddie House? Big baby? They had a solid bench 6 through 10. They had scoring. They had the defensive role players to come in and help off the bench. They had the right mix of scoring and defense. Right now we are fine with scoring. Bring back Shawne Williams and try to get Barea and we'll be fine as a scoring team. Probably even better than before too.

Jamal Crawford needs to take 15 shots to score 15 points. No idea how that actually helps the Knicks.

I hear you but look at his shooting percentages. Dude shot 34% from the field (overall) last season. Laughably bad.

the knicks wished they had jamal in game 3 vs the celtics last year. It seemed like the players around carmelo were scared to look at the rim.

The people screaming about defense are forgetting Shumpert, who I think will turn out to be a more dynamic and smarter defender than Douglas.

Crawford is by far the more talented player than Dougie. This would be a great move and would cement our scoring. Just because we have Melo and Amare doesnt mean we cant use another scorer. Crawford would allow us to not have to keep one of Melo and Amare on the court all game long. Dougie cant carry an offense like Crawford can.

Did anyone watch the Atlanta-Orlando series? Crawford was amazing.

Also remember Crawford and Tyson go back to Chicago.

Would be big to have someone on the floor while either Amare or Melo are on the bench, to pick up some slack on the offensive end

It's certainly impossible to have Shumpert at 6'5 and Crawford at 6'5 focus on offense and defense. Simply impossible.

I'd seriously acknowledge that Isiah is running things if they involve Landry in any kind of trade for Jamal. I think I'd instantly be done. KnicksGod dies.
