Phoenix on the other hand is holding onto Steve Nash despite the strong possibility that they will miss the playoffs again. At the same time, Steve Nash hasn't requested a trade (that I'm aware of anyway) despite being a few months away from turning 38.

And while everyone says the Lakers are crazy for sending Odom to a contender like DAL, at least they are showing guys like Dwight or Chris Paul that if they ever come to play in LAL, they will always be treated with respect. If they request to get traded to a contender, it looks LA will honor the request, no matter if it is dangerous. I think that's a worthwhile investment in your reputation to treat players fairly - something I liked about Kahn, working with agents to move players like Q-Rich to places where they could continue their career.

Amnesty note: Sun Sentinel learns any amnesty player claimed on either type of waivers cannot be flipped to another team until July 1.
