I would welcome this. Really, we don't know what the details of the trade are, but if TD is really the major piece being included, I don't mind.
Yes Toney has been described as a Hawk on defense, but I found myself more frustrated than not with him. I know he had the shoulder injury last year, but I always felt that he would do one really significant thing that was great for the team and then follow it with a string of negatives. If he has the value to get a former 6th man of the year veteran who knows the system and can handle NY, I say go for it. We don't know what else we might be getting in the deal or what the finished product is.
Personally, it is nice to have some other offensive options incase STAT or Melo go down with an injury. Also, at a reasonable contract, he can be considered an asset that can be flipped later down the road.
I keep hearing that Shumpert is an athletic defensive guy who can be called a chucker and undisciplined on offense. Sounds like a TD clone to me.
In the end, TD is not a point guard. He is a shooting guard in a point guards body. I don't dislike TD entirely, I would just prefer Crawford at this point
