Opposing backcourts will have a field day against J.J and Crawford. I like what Crawford brings offensively to this team, but the defense from our backcourt will not be pretty.

Crawford is the top Sixth man in the NBA. It is a no brainer.

That clip shows exactly why I DON'T want Crawful back. I see he's still dribbling out the clock and jacking up nonsense shots.

Is there really no one else available??? :(

i've watched him on atlanta, he played the exact same way as he did here. they just handled him better then we did. when he was hot they let him go. when he missed a couple shots in a row, right to the bench. that's how you have to treat him.

What makes you think Crawford would be allowed to chuck at will on a team with CARMELO ANTHONY & AMARE STOUDEMIRE?

That's preseason.

My bad. You're right.

I think TD is about as good as Jamal. I prefer TD.

People are forgetting that with the Knicks and Hawks Crawford was supposed to be a ball-dominating score-first player. He was a chucker here because we were a terrible team with not many scoring options. And as for Atlanta, let's not forget that basically everybody on that team is a chucker, so I'm not sure you can read too much into how he played there. I think he's the type of guy that would buy into whatever role the coach asks him to play. He has JR Smith's game but without the atttitude.

I see no reason to suppose that Crawford could not change his role to be more of a distributor if that's what the coaching staff asked him to do. I don't think he's a great point guard by any means but he's probably better than Douglas or Bibby. And even if he is completely incapable of playing PG, he still fills a need as a 3rd scorer.

But the question for me is...At 31 years old is his game about to go off a cliff? Some guards just start sucking in their early 30's...see Mike Bibby.

I think it's amusing that people say "Well his defense sucks but we really need his offense" ... but really, his offense sucks. He is the most inefficient and erratic offensive player like ever. He makes John Starks look like a model of consistency.

Here is the thing about Jamal. He is someone that listens to the coach. Sure, he is going to chuck up some shots but he is not selfish. If he is told to stop it, he will, no doubt. I like this trade if it happens.

Guys will be shooting over and driving around them so much that I'm starting to think this is just a ploy to pad Tyson's blocks and rebounds.

I would welcome this. Really, we don't know what the details of the trade are, but if TD is really the major piece being included, I don't mind.

Yes Toney has been described as a Hawk on defense, but I found myself more frustrated than not with him. I know he had the shoulder injury last year, but I always felt that he would do one really significant thing that was great for the team and then follow it with a string of negatives. If he has the value to get a former 6th man of the year veteran who knows the system and can handle NY, I say go for it. We don't know what else we might be getting in the deal or what the finished product is.

Personally, it is nice to have some other offensive options incase STAT or Melo go down with an injury. Also, at a reasonable contract, he can be considered an asset that can be flipped later down the road.

I keep hearing that Shumpert is an athletic defensive guy who can be called a chucker and undisciplined on offense. Sounds like a TD clone to me.

In the end, TD is not a point guard. He is a shooting guard in a point guards body. I don't dislike TD entirely, I would just prefer Crawford at this point

DO NOT WANT CRAWFORD!

He is THEE biggest chucker in the NBA. We are overloaded with offensive firepower in Melo and Amare, both of whom are high volume guys... Crawford is basically all of the negative features of melo without the positives. Add in the fact he is a painful reminder of Knicks past, I don't want ANYTHING to do with him!

I rather get someone like Anthony Parker

Barea/Bibby/Shumpert
Fields/Crawford/Shumpert
Melo/Fields
Amar'e/Jeffries
Tyson/Jordan/Harrellson

We have 4 roster spots left if everything works out.. This roster is getting flipped over again.

take away his fancy crossovers and he's one of the most mediocre players in the game. he has a lot of confidence in himself, yes. but his confidence and stupidity are intertwined. in essence, he's an *sshole.

Efficiency isnt the most important thing from a 6th man. Thats why they are 6th men. They can get red hot or get ice cold, but their skills are undeniable. If you watched Jamal in the Orlando series you would know hes much better than Douglas.

Again lets also mention that Jamal played in one of the slowest paced offenses last year while Dougie played on one of the highest, so their stats are a little skewed. Jamal was dominating under Dantoni in those 10 or so games back in 08, and he also had his best season under Woodson who is now our assistant.
