C'mon man, you're a tenured poster...you're better than this. Once we committed to Chandler at the 11th hour we no longer had the full MLE to offer Grant. Since we took ourselves under the cap by amnestying Billups we renounced the MLE. It made us only eligible to offer him the "room" exception for $2.5 million. Do you think he was going to turn down larger offers AND uproot his family and take his kids out of school. If we don't acquire Tyson we land Hill. Berman was all over both stories.

The local reporter for the Suns shot down the Hill to NY thing long before the Tyson situation manifested itself.

We're not going to agree if the issue is whether or not Berman has credibility. Is he better than Isola? Absolutely, but everyone in NY really doesn't have much going on in terms of sources.

Then that same reporter back-tracked and put out a story that Hill was torn over a major decision regarding likely his last contract. He specifically mentioned the Knicks, Spurs, Bulls and Suns as the final teams in the running. And the tone of the article was very nervous. Stop reaching. Berman is not as bad as most of you would make him out to be.

I was just checking out Jamal Crawford's twitter, and he has retweeted about 10 times about the Knicks.

If we trade Fields, I will NOT be for this trade. If we trade douglas, I'll be on the border. If we get rid of Balkman and Walker, I'll be a VERY happy man.

You must not be paying attention this offseason. Okay, let me ask you this. Out of our four beat writers who's the one consistently breaking every piece of major news. If you don't know go back and google all the articles in chronological order. Berman, Isola, Hahn or Beck. I challenge you.

He can break all the stories he wants but that doesn't change the fact that he is wrong 9/10 times.

I'll even give you him being wrong about Hill as a courtesy.

Was he wrong about Jordan?
Was he wrong about Chandler?
Was he wrong about Bibby?
Was he wrong about Turiaf to the Wizards?
Was he wrong about Foster not wanting to leave Indiana?
Was he wrong about Jeffries re-signing?

Of the four NYK beat writers go back and look up who broke all of those stories.

No kidding. Crawford has nice handles. His job would be to get the ball up court and then let Melo act as point forward or to come off the bench as a supersub. I have no idea what would possess Atlanta to make such a trade.

he was way off, but that's water down the drain now.

He was not "way off". Is it his fault the Knicks took themselves out of the running and no longer had an MLE after the Tyson acquisition. Remove all biases against Berman and answer that objectively.

If we trade a fan favorite young guy like Fields for a 31+ year old Free Agent in Crawford...

I don't think we do that. Fields shot 39% from 3 as a rookie and his off the ball movement is very key to this team AND he is our starting SG.

I might have missed something on this earlier but are the Knicks allowed to trade shumpert in this deal? His slot is $1.3 million so adding him to balkman and walker would allow crawford to get about $6 million. Also would give Atlanta a reason to want to do this.

Atlanta already signed T-Mac as their Sixth Man. So, they are willing to accept whatever for a S&T.

Okay guys, I did some math again. There is just no way for Crawford to get a fair deal without Douglas being included in the deal. If Crawford comes in to the Knicks through sign and trade involving Balkman, Walker, AND Douglas, this is what the absolute best deal for Crawford would look like...

1st year: $5,605,110
2nd year: $6,025,493
3rd year: $6,445,876
4th year: $6,866,259
5th year: $7,286,642

TOTAL: $32,229,380

On a side note, could we sign guys a guy like Shelden Williams to a minimum deal and include him in a sign and trade for Crawford?

Shumpert CANNOT be traded right now. I already went over this. Since he signed his contract, it will be a while into the season until he is allowed to be traded.
