not all public, but he had talks with otis over the years about which players he would like to play with, not just stars, role players etc, said otis hasn't really listened

yea I've listened to the interview. It sure does strike me weird. "If you talked to guys and they were receptive to coming here, one would draw the conclusion you would want to stay, is this correct"? Dwight: "Correct"!!!!
awwww come on man

Anyone else feel like Monday is going to be a "very" interesting/busy day for the Magic FO in terms of player movement? Or do people think it's going to be another quiet day?

Dwight has to keep in mind the team is willing to spend money. Otis just has done a piss poor job with a blank check.

We'll either make a trade to try to keep Dwight or just trade him.

Might be smarter just to trade him. He's a goner either way.

You would hope that the management would be as interested in Dwight's comments. If so, why not make moves? But I'll guess the latter happens.

If Dwight's gonna act like a baby and whine about the GM not getting players on his list and letting him play armchair GM, then I'm not going to side with him. Doesn't really matter who the GM is or what the GM has done, with the possible exception of Isiah Thomas who is clinically insane.

Remember when Tmac wanted us to trade the #1 pick for "help"? Yeah. Letting players call the shots is a sure path to disaster.

"But Otis has led us to disaster!"

Okay. I don't necessarily disagree. We're looking at a situation now where Dwight wants out, and that's a certifiable disaster. So does Otis deserve to get fired? Yeah. I don't know if he will, but if he got fired today, you wouldn't see me complain.

The point isn't really about Otis or Dwight specifically. It's about not creating an environment where the GMs are just figureheads that indulge a star's every whim. That's not going to work, because players do not know best. Not all GMs do either, so when it becomes clear that yours doesn't, then by all means fire him.

+1. This is what I been thinking.

I wanted otis gone not because of Dwight, its because he has shown to be inept and incapable of forming a championship team.
Fire Otis!

I'm ready for Magic life w/o Dwight.. BUT I'm still holding on to hope for a breakthrough deal that keeps Dwight happy (gets him help/a star)..

I'm watching Sunday night football right now and I can not imagine ever caring as much as I do about the Magic about an NFL team... just kind of blew my mind thinking about it.

I know Dwight is acting like a child and whatnot and I agree that he might be trying to push his way out.

BUT, you guys are crazy saying "don't give him what he wants, players are not gm's blah blah" it is not everyday you get a HOF player like him. Give him what the f he wants until the season is up, hopefully we can convince him into staying, if not at least we can say we gave it our all. Because I'll tell you what - it will probably take another 10 yrs to draft a player of his caliber..

JF5 wrote:There is no reason to toy with this situation any longer. Dwight is a goner regardless... No Superstar is coming here, and the Magic don't have assets to attain better players at this point to become an ideal contender. The longer you keep Dwight this season, the harder it is to tank in order to get better position in the 2012 draft.

I just don't understand Otis's logic in keeping Dwight for "the foreseeable future" when it's quite obvious he's going to leave come July.

I think the reason Otis is not so quick to pull the trigger is because he knows the sooner that Dwight leaves, he is going to be dismissed as well not to long after. That's my feeling at this point. He's just stalling the inevitable.

If there was a stellar deal, that got us fair value... sure, make the trade. You don't know what kind of deals have been proposed. But by the sounds of things, they haven't been great. There's NO BENEFIT in rushing a trade. NONE. You guys are just being impatient. And if you can't see any benefit to dealing with some potential awkwardness and being patient and seeing if there's a better deal than Brook Lopez and 2 firsts for Dwight Howard, then there's no helping you.
