More like Jan 1st. After that the financials change and Dwight can't get the extra year and money from anyone but us, so the offers will probably suck after that date. This is how i understood it.

I still think is a mistake to have Otis Smith making decisions. He know the minute Howard is out of Orlando he is fired, he plans to drag the situation.

If I was top in the Magic right now I'd tell Otis he had till Friday to field a team Dwight approves of or he was getting fired

Otis has made this personal. His comments prove that. What is the likelihood that We truly get rid of Otis and save the franchise?

I feel Dwight will stay if he sees that new blood willing to work with him steps in.

How many young MVP caliber players are in the league? Wade, Lebron, Chris Paul, Melo, Durant, Westbrook, Rose, Amare, Deron Williams, Dwight. Did i leave anyone out? Out of those guys who has had the most play off and regular season success? And remember that of those only three have been in the league for a shorter time than Dwight.

out of those guys, who is responsible for anchoring their team's defense? which one player is able to have an impact on ALL 5 players on the opposite team? only one - the best big man in the game.

you're completely ignoring the impact Dwight has on the court. it's between him and LeBron as to who would impact a game more, and they both do it on opposite ends of the court. Bron had his team as the #1 seed, he made the finals, he made the ECFs, and he had a crap team - and he left his team because of that as well.

Darth Magic wrote:Let me save you some time. The only guy who has approximately the same amount of playoff success as Dwight is Lebron, and he had to team up with Wade and Bosh to get back to the finals. Let's forget that at one point we had one of the deepest teams in the league and had essentially two starting 5's. Let's forget that this depth came to our aid on many occasions, when Dwight was suspended and we still managed to blow out a Philadelphia team on the road without our superman. Lets forget how JJ stepped up when C-Lee got injured and he had to go up against Ray Allen.

Let's forget how we made the finals with a squad that Otis engineered. Lets just forget that it was him who made the moves to clear cap space to sign Rashard in the first place, including getting rid of the contract of Steve Francis which many thought impossible because he was so bad and over paid. But he's a horrible GM and should be fired. Cause you know, it's not like he's done any good around here.

again, if you take Dwight off that team, then the moves Otis made make zero difference to this team whatsoever.

even i wouldn't insult Otis as much to say he's worse than Isaiah, but, the additions Otis made to this team make crap all difference if Dwight isn't around to make them all look good.

/\ I don't think Otis is the best at making pressure decisions... we'll end up with a bad contract and average player.

I don't know, man........Otis doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who performs well under pressure.

Before Dwight Howard seeks that GM job he apparently so craves, he should talk to Dell Demps.

i wouldn't be surprised if this has turned into a giant pissing competition between Dwight and Otis to see who can come out as alpha male.

We need to make sure that we the fans support him until he is in another jersey. No blowing up his twitter with negative crap and definately no booing him. In this pissing mach between him and Otis we need to let him know we are on his side.

Looks to me like Otis played one on Dwight and started a back and forth that probably is not going to end until one leaves. Dwight was clear about wanting to keep it private that he had asked for a trade and then Otis decided to make it public.

Someone just said it and I fear it might be right. Otis might be way too caught up into this personally to even be the GM until Dwight leaves. The Devos family should be taking applications at 9 AM tomorrow morning.

If Dwight's traded, Otis should be fired.
If Dwight stays the year, we should get him some help and Otis' job depends on how well we do in the playoffs and/or whether Dwight re-signs with us or not.

regardless of the outcome; Dwight staying or going, i want Otis gone. so i'll take option 3, please.

but, knowing the Magic like to place a lot of value on loyalty, i'd imagine that doesn't happen.

this, the last thing we need to do is boo him while still wearing a magic jersey. Unless, of course, he comes out and says that there is absolutely no way he stays.

Guy just amnestied a player he traded that cost his boss 20 million dollars extra and the one person who he should have a good relationship - the franchise player - just threw him under the bus. Even if Dwight stays it will be awfully strange if Otis keeps his job.

did you want him not to use the amnesty clause on Gilbert?
