He's eerily reminiscent of OJ Mayo....so why draft that when you can get BETTER in a different position and pick up Mayo in the FA market and if anything OJ was more dominant.

You're a cancer to this draft thread's locker room. You have been informed by the GM that you're sent down to the D-league. Clean your locker, pack your bags and leave by tomorrow morning son. :)

I remember when Elias Harris was considered a good prospect two years ago (lotto potential). He has gotten worse as a player.

Yeah he looks pretty good..he's got the athletic/long/good motor/bouncy thing going on, which is a nice set of tools/skills to start with. I suspect he'll be in the lotto pick mix.

Right now the guys I'm looking at are Kidd-Gilchrist and QMiller. If we landed either one I'll be happy.

Barton's going to be a big riser in the draft. Though Memphis lost, this was his second 27 pt game of the week, this time on 10-13 shooting. Very athletic, good handle, nice shooter with range, high impact rebounder. DraftX has him in the middle of the second round, but that mock is old. He was a top 10 recruit in his high school class, but as a freshman played cluelessly and selfishly last season (AAU ball) some commentators said. Now, as a sophomore, he's much more team oriented.

Just keep an eye on this kid.

Just a thought, who you guys rather have paired with JV if given the choice Drummond or Davis?

Davis. I'm tired of Drummond's lack of motor and low BBIQ even though he has the most potential.

In the weirdest way, they're both projects but in different ways. I can't say who I'd like more as of right now. I think I'll know by March Madness though.

Those are the SF that I'm most interested in right now. I have a feeling it'll be Miller at the end of the day though.

The only guy we should be drafting is Harrison Barnes.

Not only does he fit everything this team needs (a 3 who is absolutely money from the arch and inside), but he's got the expectations of a #1 recruit and should only get better once he enters the NBA.

We don't need an insanely athletic scoring guard, do Bayless or Derozan ring a bell?

We don't need defensive big men, Davis or Amir?

We don't need a C, Jonas Val? (He has to at least be given a chance)

I know going with team need isn't always the best, but Harrison Barnes is the best.. It's a no brainer.

Agreed.

But even if we got Harrison Barnes, ask yourself, "Are the Raptors contenders yet?". Answer is probably no. So after Harrison Barnes, I think the next focus should be on getting a point guard and an all star PF or C....and ultimately trading away two of Amir, Bargnani or Davis.

The key is Demar. If he becomes what he can (develops a better jump shot and can squeeze in the odd 3), then we have a piece going forward. Until we have a reliable scorer the team can't move forward. Sure Bargnani gave us 20 a game, but he can't do it alone.

Between Davis, Val, Bayless, Lottery Pick, I'm pretty sure we'll find a guy who can play with Demar.

Where are we going to get our all star PF or C from?

Are we already writing off Jonas and Davis?

I don't think a team NEEDS an all star PF or C to win. We had one earlier and couldn't get passed the first round.

I feel very good that we should be in tank range of either Barnes or Lamb.

Then you swing for the fences in free agency. Bynum + Holiday? Not superstars but I think that's the kind of return we should be expecting from our free agent spending spree.

Holiday/Bayless
DD/Weems
Barnes/JJ/Kleiza
Bargnani/Ed/Amir
Bynum/Valanciunas/Solo

That's a great two-way team. Championship calibre? Depends on the youth development and Bynum's knees and Holiday especially - is he worth a big contract?

Right now our roster looks like this going forward, in terms of guys signed past this last tanking year (I'm including Gray since I think he's a great stop gap starter until JV is ready, and once JV is ready would make a very solid backup center. I've long been a fan):

ROSTER
PG-?????/Bayless
SG-DeRozan
SF-?????/JJohnson
PF-Bargnani/Amir/Davis
C-Valanciunas/Gray/Alabi

Heading into next offseason we will have the following assets:

ASSETS
2012 1st rounder
Amir/Davis/Bargs
20 million cap space

an idea to go forward with, regarding how to turn those assets into the pieces we need.

1. Draft a wing (Lamb)
2. Sign a vet PG (Nash)

That would leave us looking like this:

PG-Nash/Bayless
SG-DeRozan
SF-Lamb/JJohnson
PF-Bargnani/(Amir/Davis)
C-Valanciunas/Gray/Alabi

I think that's a pretty damn good young team and Nash would be a great mentor and would be a great fit as a creator and scorer. Obviously our frontcourt is pretty crowded, but perhaps one of Ed/Bargs/JV flamesout, so I'm fine rolling with these guys for now.
