I was just wondering, with the acquisition of Marcus will Tyreke play the one?

The Kings actually have had Marcus since last season and Tyreke played PG when Marcus was on the court.

I know, but I thought he'd leave, lol. I guess other teams should watch out. Does Tyreke defend PG's too? Cause he's bigger than Marcus.

Tyreke usually defends the bigger player regardless who is the 1 or 2.

Cousins is back in the center of everything, including a new offensive scheme intended to cure the Kings' chronic dribble-itis.

"We're changing it," coach Paul Westphal said, citing the addition of ballhandlers and passers. "It's going to be a system that gets us away from the one (point guard), two (shooting guard), three (small forward) stereotypes."

The Kings are running the offense through Cousins. Think of the Princeton offense.

Yes! Westphal is turning into one hell of a coach!! hahaha. Maybe he visited this board last year? When he went that way before this team became dangerous, now with Hayes that's 3 good passing bigs in Cousins, Hayes, and JT.

Too bad the Maloofs burn bridges with Adelman. He would have been awesome here with the collection of talent here..

I think running the offense thru Cousins will help change his rep around the league

This has got to be my favorite quote of the off-season. That is such good news, I've been dreaming of Paul saying something like that. I'm still cautiously optimistic though.

Lets hope Cousins doesn't abuse the fact that the offense runs through him.

Can this actually happen?

Can Paul Wesfail actually do the right thing and become a proper coach?

I sure hope so, we've only been crying for this to happen since a month after last season began.

Not totally true. I was just watching some of the games from last season. Against the Bulls, Tyreke was covering Derrick Rose while Beno was on Bogans. Against the Hornets, Tyreke checked Chris Paul while Beno/MT was on the taller Marco Belinelli. I think the plan was to have Tyreke guarding the faster, more athletic player regardless of size. But with Marcus in and Beno out, and Salmons at the 3, switches on defense are going to be so much easier because they're interchangeable.

To me, Tyreke has to be the 1 and learn to play like Deron Williams--running the break, getting his, scoring when the defense allows it, but getting into the lane breaking down defenses and passing it to the open man, and posting down low on smaller PGs.

I'm guessing the Kings system won't have a "PG" a "SG" and a "SF". Just three guys who could potentially bring the ball up the court.

If you want to pigeonhole, then I guess the answer to the OP's question is both. Reke plays "PG" with Thornton, and "SG" with Jimmer. Perhaps even "SF" if we go smallball
