I'm assuming 4 years, 16 million. It wouldn't be a Wolves offseason if we didn't hand out a contract to back up level point guard.

I'm a fan of mighty mouse...but 4 years...really?

Where does Ridnour get traded to?

I think we are bringing JJ Barea for his persistent defense.

Hmm, I do love Barea. Maybe we envision him playing some minutes alongside Rubio, with Rubio guarding the 2 and Barea guarding the 1? I don't know. Offensively he plays more like a 2, and his offense compliments our team very well, that's for sure.

Barea's a good fit in Adelman's offense. He'll take most of Ridnour's PG minutes backing up Rubio.

Three possible scenarios for Ridnour, in descending order of probability:

(1) He plays more SG as a situational spot-up shooter. (His defense at the 2 will be a problem, though).
(2) He's part of a trade, along with one of our bigs, for a vet SG, or maybe just traded for a pick.
(3) He's amnestied (doubtful--we're in a comfortable cap position).

Good question. LAL for their TPE? San Antonio?

He's a decently-priced back-up PG that can start for you in a pinch.

Ridnour/Johnson for Martin..... who knows.

Why would HOU want Ridnour anyway?

It doesn't make sense to keep him, so obviously he goes somewhere though.

Even though we again have a jam at point, I have to say this excites me.
Simply based on the fact (yes money and years weren't there) but with rumors of Barea re-signing with the champion Mavs or the Knicks, he is coming here! Who says we can't sign free agents.

I am really curious if they plan on using him as a point or more as an off guard. I will have to do my Barea research now. At the very least we now have someone to speak spanish with Ricky..?..

ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein
Sources close to situation say J.J. Barea's four-year deal with Timberwolves, first reported by @daldridgetnt, is valued at $19 million

Robbed it from the general board.

Seems like a fair deal...JJB is probably a touch better than Ridnour

I imagine a Luke trade is inevitable based on those numbers?

Kahn's probably already got a destination in mind for him...hopefully as part of a KMart trade...

Yeah, that seems like overpaying.

I think Thabeet got amnestied.
