While we're on the subject of the situation room. They're adding a net cam that's high on the net to give a better view on goals. They're installing them in 10 arenas this month, 10 in January and 10 in February or sooner.

Anybody see Ovy's goal last night? Man what a shot! The Sens vs Capitals game was intense two very good goals who should easily be up for goals of the year. I think Giroux might be the early on Heart Trophy winner if not him it's Jonathan Toews.

Hurricanes send Kaberle to Montreal for Spacek. Salary dump time for the Canes. Kaberle is owed $8.5 over 2 years, Spacek is an UFA after this season.

You friggen jerks! If you didn't offer him that big contract to begin with, he would have stayed a Bruin. Then you trade him to the friggen Habs!

Boo!

I wonder now that Kaberle is a Hab if he's going to get booed by The Leafs when The Canadians play The Leafs at The ACC?

Another great win for The Wings last night loosing Pavel Datsyuk in the 2nd sucks but at least he fine and cleared to play tonight vs The Jets. Here's a article on it http://www.freep.com/article/20111209/S ... y=nav|head

Insecure? Dude, you haven't won anything since 67 and my team has 24 Cups. What the hell do I have to be insecure about? When the Leafs win the Cup every single year and finally catch up (isn't that every season for a Leafs fan?), then we'll talk. Until then, please be quiet.

And you guys forgot to add Ryan White >>> Brad Marchand on your list.

Holy smokes, settle down there bud. Considering every other post you make is about the Leafs, I'd say you're a little insecure....wouldn't you?

Not in the least bit, and if you read my post you'd see why. Nice try.

As for the Kaberle trade, I hate it. Even if he does save Montreal's powerplay, Spacek's expiring contract was supposed to be Josh Gorges' new deal. Now you have even less money to spend with the same amount of players to re-sign. I'm praying for Gauthier to get fired and let the Habs sign Pierre McGuire.

As a Canes fan, I was shocked that we were able to unload that contract for an expiring. I wish Kaberle the best, and of course thank Montreal for the help!

Gauthier has not made a good move as a GM yet. How does he still have a job?

He's done nothing but prove his incompetence since he's taken over.

I'm amazed at how well the Wild are playing. They've won 12 of 14 and just beat Phoenix so their West Coast road trip results in wins against Anaheim, San Jose, Los Angeles and Phoenix. Off to Winnipeg now, quick two game home stand against the Blackhawks and Isles and then three division road games against the Canadian teams in the Northwest.

He's had some good moves. He just doesn't follow them up.

Dominic Moore trade for a 2nd. Moore ended up being huge in the playoffs that year - especially against the Caps in Game 7. Then he lets him go.

Wisniewski for a 2nd. Lets him go in favor of Markov.

He also made the moves to get Tinordi, Beaulieu, Leblanc and Gallagher in the drafts, and the Cole signing. But otherwise, he's been a colossal moron in his decision making.

Cole is overpaid by about 1.5M per year, which is a lot of money, and got 4-years with a No Trade Clause? He traded Halak for nothing. Taking on Kaberle's contract is atrocious. Giving Markov a guaranteed 3-year deal worth that much money made absolutely no sense, and essentially gave Markov zero reason to get into game-shape as soon as he could.

As you alluded, he turned a couple of draft picks into productive rental players, which is good for the short term. But he is really bastardizing the long-term roster. Next year he only has three defensemen and eight forwards under contract, with Price getting a huge raise and Subban as well. If the cap stays as is he only has $20M in cap room. Except the cap is likely to come down a bit after they agree on a new CBA.

If we're going to talk bad Gauthier trades, I think it starts and ends with the Scott Gomez for Chris Higgins and Ryan McDonagh trade. McDonagh is a stud.

Pretty sure that was on Gainey, no?

Just double checked and yes, it was Gainey. He didnt step down until the trade deadline 2010. Gomez was acquired June 2009.

You're right. I thought Gauthier was promoted in 09, he was hired in 2010.

Yeah it was a really strange mid-season switch. I think related to Gainey's daughter dying.

Yeah I didn't bother bringing up his bad moves because the list is a mile long - but we didn't get "nothing" for Halak. We easily could've got more, but we won that trade in a landslide because Eller is awesome. His only problem is he doesn't have the stats, but that will come.

I never wanted Markov back either. And our long term isn't bastardized at all. In reality it's looking better than it has in years. Gallagher is already a stud, ditto PK and Pacioretty. Add in Leblanc, Tinordi, Beaulieu, Emelin and Diaz with Price, Gorges, Eller and Plekanec and I'm happy about how the Habs look in the future. And by the time all the young guys are cemented into the Habs roster, Gomez/Gionta/Cammalleri's deals will be over. As long as Gauthier doesn't completely **** up the next few drafts (or our next GM, since PG will be fired sooner or later), we'll be fine.

Just got back from the Sharks-Hawks game, turned into a thriller in the 3rd after San Jose dominated the first two periods. Seems so simple...send people to the net, but it took the Hawks 59 minutes to figure that out.

Massive win for The Wings over The Jets 7-1 is a slaughter no matter how you look at it. Great to see our role players step up for us i.e. Filppula, Hudler and Franzen were all solid for us.

Should be a big game vs The Pens on Tuesday hopefully they have Sidney in the lineup want to beat them at 100%

Just hate to hear Sidney Crosby is out again with concussion symptoms. Only 24, and so talented. But as much as the Penquins need him back, as much as hockey needs him back, he has to think about his long term health. If he cant play again, I hope he stays involved. Maybe joinging the coaching ranks, something in mgmnt., announcing games, etc... He just needs to be smart. Dont take an unnecessary risk with his long term health. Main thing here is, listen to your doctors. Get 2nd and 3rd opinions, but listen to what they say. Be smart.
