Injury Concerns

Post#1 » by penquin11 » Wed Dec 7, 2011 3:49 pm

With the new schedule coming out I have noticed that despite the shortened schedule there are stretches of games that are brutal. And with a shortened schedule each loss is essentially wieghed more. That stated I would like to bring up a real concern that the Bobcats should have this year, that being injuries.

Lets have a look at our starting lineup first
PG Kemba Walker or DJ Augustin: luckily there is no real problem here.
SG Henderson: he does have some history of injuries but nothing too major. The biggest concern being that we have just about nothing behind him.
SF Magette lets face it the man is a injury magnet, I would bet on the TO becoming a better
person, Kobe Bryant realising hes an ****, and MJ returning to play in the NBA before I would bet on Magette playing in every game this year or managing to get through it injury free. Expect him to miss at least 15 games.
PF T2 He gets injured frequently.... Not a huge problem because of depth right? We will get to that later.
C Kwame Brown: the man has never played a full season in his career, which is scary because we have no-one behind him if Biyombos contract cant be figured out.

Now for our bench:
PG whoever loses between Kemba and DJ gets this spot no biggy
SG Carrol? Does he even count as a player? It would be a huge problem if hendo were to get injured.
SF Cunninham might not return, which is good cause weed makes you apathetic, so we shall see who gets this spot, whoever it is will probably see alot of playing time and some starts because of Magettes dead man walking syndrome.
PF I dont get how someone as out of shape as diaw manages to stay healthy, either way we are loaded here but on the slight chance that some how Diaw and T2 miss alot of games then White will see a **** load of time (can you say loses?)
C Right now we have only diop here which scares the stuffing out of me because if Kwame goes down then we are left with a player who is more likely to foul out in a games first quarter then he is to score 10 points......

What Im getting at is that at SF, PF, and Center we are screwed. There is a possibilty that by mid season we will have lost our starting SF for the year, PF for some amount of time, and possibly be stuck with 1 active center on our roster.... Scary right?

Not really. Sounds like we are locked for a top three pick.

That and we are destned to become the first team in NBA history to only feature a 4 man starting lineup or have a pg starting at center (wait did magic johnson...)

We would never get down that far. One we can always sign unsigned and waived players. Two we can call up players from the Red Claws. We can trade our four depth for players at needed positions.

Oh, and Yeah Magic started in the finals for an injured Kareem, and dominated his opponent to lead the Lakers to Majic's first title.

I don't think Slam was really ever a Carroll fan. He was just being nice. The new Slam is more mean and unforgiving and will not tolerate Matty Carroll bunny hopping all the over court as opposing players merrily frolic into the lane untouched.

Wrong on SO many levels.

1: Was a legit fan. Am a legit fan. Will always be a legit fan of Hammer.

2: People don't go by him untouched - but I guess heaping on a white dude for bad D is a "cool" thing to do? Hammer is actually a pretty good defender.

I think you have to be an original Bobcats SuperFan and to have been with the team from the very start to be able to honestly appreciate Hammer.

Did you say SuperFan? SUPERFAN?

It's been a while since I've heard that one.

Injuries or no injuries the odds are very high we are going to suck big time this year so don't sweat it It's not like an injury will knock us out of the playoff hunt or anything. It just pushes us closer to the number one pick. Sit back, enjoy (hopefully) watching our young guys develop, and prepare to lose a bunch of games while recognizing we are still at least a year away.

If I can regain some excitement about the NBA again, the most exciting thing about the Bobcats is that they will suck so bad we will have a good shot at a top 3 pick in the best draft since Lebron.

I honestly wouldn't mind if this season is a trainwreck, we have to start building from somewhere & a top 3 pick in this years draft is a great start.

Even if everyone was healthy we'd still struggle.

The good news is that we're not importing our water from Portland. Whatever bacteria or virus that attacks the knees of players there seriously needs to be wiped out.

The thing is everyone at the so called top of this draft is kind of going thru the motions. No one has distinguished themself as the absolute best player in the NCAA the way Blake did last year. I think I am more comfortable with the 4-8 range of players. If I was the GM and we had the number one or number two pick this year I would definitely be open to trading it. I need a stud of a small forward and a pick between 5 and 10. Come on whatcha got?

I still have to say that I like what Barnes has done, he has improved the one area that I was most concerned about last year, that being his consistency, and it seems that as the season has progressed his numbers have slowly been on the rise.

Already Maggette spaghetti? What the hell is wrong with him? He had an extra three months to prepare for this season and now a few days in, this stiff has already gone limp. Good lord.

Derrick Brown might get his chance this year after all.

How many guys are required to be down and out before we get medical roster exemptions? We're screwed if we have to play 9-10 man teams like we did late last season.

I once signed with the Bobcats but then I took arrow in the knee.

9 players I think.

I wonder how they can still plan to hold intrasquad scrimmage.

I would expect Henderson starting (at SF) rather then UPS. Or even Ely with Diaw back at SF spot. Either way it probably means more minutes for both Kemba and UPS.

Are you ready for Matt Carroll at SF? I know I am.
