Baseball is a Dirty Sport that Cheats It's Fans
This is a consistent thing with baseball. The newest one is Mr. Braun. Mr MVP candidate that has to take PED's. My biggest problem with America's favorite pastime is that it is full of classless people that never get called out to the point in which they should. If this was basketball ever to be this dirty of a sport it would never rebound, but baseball just keeps on ticking with a bunch of scumbag human beings cheating fans and getting rich.
You know why, because most of the people that love baseball are promoters of a certain type of person no matter what he or she does. That is why the beat goes on and the sport gets dirtier and dirtier and cheats it's fans more and more.

It's in every professional sport. Baseball just tests for it.

Proof? To me that is the problem with baseball and the reason it has gotten to the stage where a unbiased person must wonder if everything we have seen for the last 15-20 years is a fraud. Never take full responsibility. Just like baseball had 2 or 3 incidents where owners and players did and said things to homosexuals last year, they just pushed it under the rug. While David Stern fined guys heavily for the same. Baseball has become a renegade sport that plays by its own rules. How can you be in love with something when you know you are being cheated? I mean MVP caliber player after MVP caliber player cheating the fans. If I knew the best basketball players and there great accomplishments were frauds I would not support them fully either. I am better than defaming someone just to make someone obviously guilty look better.

Tell us how you really feel.
I get why you're disappointed, I would probably be heart broken if Jeter tested positive, but, in my opinion the effect of steroids is overrated and/or nonexistent. Braun is still a top player in the game and has all the talent in the world despite testing positive. Besides, there's a chance the test was screwed up some how since the 2nd test came back negative. who knows what really happened.

This is an arbitrary number, but i can bet 60% of NFL players use PED's too.

Wow, only in baseball. Any other sport people always want to make them seem to be animals but this guy cheats his way to a MVP that Matt Kemp definitely deserved more since he is clean and people take up for the scumbag. Finally figured out why baseball is full of tobacco chewing clowns drinking beer in the clubhouse. I am glad I lost respect for the fraudalent product a long time ago. WWE at its fullest

Who says cheaters dont get called out? Braun is on the front page of ESPN for like two days now. I think people are definitely upset, but after A-rod, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Barry Bonds, and etc you just not too "suprised" any more. Baseball is also a different sport, superstars in baseball don't get as much attention as their counterparts in Basketball. When Rashard Lewis or Mayo got tested positive for banned substances I don't remember people treating them as animals. I don't follow NHL or NFL, but I believe MLB's 50G/100G/permanent ban is definitely harder than NBA's punishment.

MLB can not stop players from cheating.
All MLB can do is make things difficult for those that do get caught.
Ruined image, suspended for a third of the season are pretty significant penalties.

I don't understand the love for baseball and think it needs to be hated more. Sorry, but I am sad to admit I think baseball gets off the hook too easy. Every blog I look at I see people hating basketball players because of what they look like. Tatoo, ghetto, thugs. That's what you hear and that is far from the truth about most of them. On the other hand, here is a sport full of big names that give you the middle finger and let you know they are all about the dollar just as much as any gangster to run a crime ring but all people focus on is what things look like. What is the difference between doing illegal things to get more money and bigger contracts in baseball than someone running a crime ring? It is all criminal activities in which criminals commit crimes to get paid. We know of this happening more in baseball than any sport. It is too easily accepted while other people are defamed and disrespected for things that have nothing to do with cheating the sport and the people that pay money. Kids look up to athletes as goliaths, and its all a fraud when it comes to baseball. I still like the sport because I know how fun it is to actually play considering I did atleast play at the high school level, but it is sad that I can't enjoy it anymore than I do a staged wrestling match at this point.

If you loved baseball like I do, you'd think it gets too much hate. Just like how you love basketball and notice the little things like people talking about tattoos.
Like I said, have stronger testing in other professional sports, and you'd realize how many cheaters there are scattered out there.

Sorry, but defaming another man or league to make one that is obviously as dirty and corrupt as the civilized society has ever seen is just not a part of my makeup. That is something for baseball people to add to there moral failings.

He's not defaming another man or league. He is just staying the obvious. You think only baseball players take banned substances? I don't know what to say if you think only baseball players are greedy.

Re: Baseball is a Dirty Sport that Cheats It's Fans
I don't have the latest comparisons, but this is what i found from a 2008 article.
The NBA and NHL test only during the season, which makes their programs effectively useless, numerous experts say.
Baseball has received generally high marks for tightening its testing program in the wake of the Mitchell report, which was released in December. But most American sports still have a long way to go just to make the most of current technology.
But as Ayotte and others say, even if the NFL, NBA and NHL were on par with Major League Baseball, much less WADA or USADA, they still would fall short of what longitudinal testing might provide.
Everything is suggesting (to me atleast) that MLB has more known steroids users because they actually perform more drug tests. I dont see how you can compare MLB vs other leagues when you are not using the same standards.

If this were true, why do so many players risk their livelihood and their legacy to do it? It clearly has an effect.

Then don't watch it......and baseball is hardly a fraud, c'mon now.....and if it was a fraud, don't you think that baseball would have buried the Braun failed testing?
It's true that basketball players images are stereotyped by some.....but aren't you doing the same thing now?"
Baseball looked the other way for years, but not for the past few years after the stringent testing was utilized.
Players find ways to cheat their sport in every sport....some off the field/court and some on. Do you really think that NFL players aren't cheating?

100% right, quite frankly MLB and Baseball is doing something to be clean not like nfl/nba or track 'n field, those who complain about baseball are not informed or are against whole mlb league/sport

16,000 posts and you're arguing that steroids have little or no effect on performance?

Maybe you haven't heard of two guys named Roger Maris and Babe Ruth. They were the only two baseball players in 70+ years to hit 60 home runs. Strangely, in 1998 two players who took steroids hit way more than them, and another player who took steroids hit even more 3 years later.

Re: Baseball is a Dirty Sport that Cheats It's Fans
I strongly disagree with the OP, baseball is in a huge rebound since the mid 00s. The game is clean as ever, the teams are making money, there have been no labor issues since 1994 and there is as much competitive balance as ever. Although there are still some issues that are not perfect which I'm sure are being addressed. Length of games, replay, lack of a salary cap and realignment. All of which are minor compared to the problems of some of the other major sports.
Also, the Braun thing has still yet to play out. There is some serious sentiment that the man might actually be innocent.

Re: Baseball is a Dirty Sport that Cheats It's Fans
I read this thread earlier today and I couldn't really tell if this guy was being serious or not. Assuming he is serious, he's a joke. As has been said by many others here, they test for performance-enhancing drugs a lot more in basebal, hence the higher detection levels. If they tested the same amount in the NBA or NFL for example, I think you'd find more positive results than we see in baseball.
As for the rest of his argument, he is a hypocrite. He goes on and on about how it's so pathetic for us to defend baseball by talking negatively about other sports, and yet he does exactly that by referring to baseball so negatively to promote his claims that other sports are so perfect.
I'm not wasting any more of my time with this clown. I could spend it doing something more beneficial to my life... such as watching paint dry.
