Really good news, but I just hope another team doesn't swoop in and make a ridiculous offer.

Huh? an offer on what? Done deal he has to abide by the contract he signed. He is officially off the market and remains a Clipper Whoo Hoo!

CLIPPERS MATCH OFFER SHEET, RE-SIGN DEANDRE JORDAN

The Los Angeles Clippers today re-signed restricted free agent center DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers matched an offer sheet presented to Jordan by the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, Dec. 11. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not announced.

Under current NBA rules, the Clippers had three days to match the Warriors’ offer sheet to the Texas native, or Jordan would have become a member of the Warriors.

Originally drafted by the Clippers with the 35th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Jordan, 23, is entering his third NBA season after enjoying a breakout 2010-11 with Los Angeles. The 6-foot-11 center appeared in a career-high 80 games last season, making 66 starts and averaging 7.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.78 blocks in 25.6 minutes.

Jordan finished third in the NBA with 158 dunks and shot a team-high 68.6 percent (234-of-341 FG) from the field, the highest field goal percentage of any player in the NBA with over 300 field goal attempts.

In his career, the Texas A&M product has appeared in 203 games and averaged 5.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

This will be quite an entertaining season for sure. Even without CP3 we'll be pretty damn competitive.

I knew that we would match the offer sheet. I love the moves this team is making
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Shouldn't they know better?

Broderick Turner, Los Angeles Times (12/12/11)
The Clippers wouldn't say what package of players and/or draft picks the Hornets wanted for Paul but said that the asking price was too high.

However, the Clippers never were going to trade shooting guard Eric Gordon, one of the players the Hornets badly wanted in the deal.

Various reports said the Clippers would have sent center Chris Kaman, backup guard Eric Bledsoe, forward Al-Farouq Aminu and the unprotected 2012 first-round draft pick they got from the Minnesota Timberwolves to New Orleans for Paul. Some reports said the Hornets also wanted the Clippers to sign Jordan and make him part of the package instead of Kaman.

Wait. What?! I thought once a player signs an offer sheet, he is only eligible to either go to the signing team or back to his current team. Did something change in the CBA? Are reporters that clueless? Or do the NBA-owned Hornets not quite have a grasp on specifics of their own rules and policy?

LOL, a pesky technicality at best- Stern can override the rules.
